You use random.org, and whatever number you get, you just count that many titles down the list. You leave the list in its default order, which on Steam is alphabetical.
But why use that, and not the random.org as rando suggested earlier? Or pick some other generator?
And really, how do you apply the random numbers you get? People keep saying to put games in alphabetical order, but maybe reverse alphabetical would be better? Or by release date? Date of purchase?
I’m surprised you think it’s easy. Are you suggesting it isn’t normal to spend all night utterly paralyzed with indecision?
I can say why you use random.org instead of get-random or another random number generator. The reason is because random.org is actually truly random and therefore fair, unlike basically any other randomization option on your computer.

Go pee in the bathroom, Ethan. It’s not like you’ve even started anything yet. Life is open world, not linear 2d platforming!

How did Ethan survive before his superpowers? There’s always been a decent balance between “he survives because its comedy” and “he survives because of his superpowers” in the comic, but now that one isn’t around anymore the other is starting to become more obvious.
its like taking someone who lived paycheck to paycheck, giving them an unlimited credit limit with no need to pay it off, then after a decade forcing them back to paycheck to paycheck. the shock is NOT going to go over easy.
This reminds me of what happened to Two-Face on Arkham Asylum: A Serious House on Serious Earth:
(spoilers for a 34 year old comic):
Batman finds Two-Face in worse mental condition, turns out that a new therapy that swapped his two sided coin, with a six sided die (and later on a Tarot deck), instead of helping his mental state, it left him paralyzed at the number of choices that, much like Ethan here, he couldn’t go to the bathroom on time…

I’ve had similar issue when wanting to deal with backlog. I’ve also had ADHD paralysis, where i want to game, but ADHD and focus can’t agree on what to play

I feel like Steam and gaming consoles should have a “?PLAY?” button that just starts up a random game that you own but haven’t started or completed yet.
Good Lord, how do people on XBox Game Pass cope?
Xbox does have a “pick a game for me” option. Many years ago I wrote a spreadsheet that would select a random game, but updating the list became too much of a chore.

I kind of envy him because I have no games to play. And I’m limited to PC.
Playing Last Epoch right now but it’s kinda boring. I want options 😛
(no, please don’t spam me with titles, I probably played them already or they’re sports or racing games which I hate)
No friends, no wife/partner, no hobbies, hardly ever going out because… why? There’s nothing outside that I like. Been like this for 25 years or more. Not planning to change that.
Hope that answers it 🙂
Seconding that. Would comment more often but I’m tired of clicking on crosswalks and motorcycles and having an existential crisis every time it fails me.

This is beyond mere paralysis. Everything is physically shut down. This is Choice Coma. Hope he doesn’t think on whether to blink or breathe or not.

Ethan is a male, he can just use whatever conveniently located disposable container there is to do his business. Is it the most ideal of situation, no, but beats needing to get up.
Should I be amused or concerned?
I believe the answer here is YES
poor Ethan. If only he knew about random number generators
Queue more hours of anxiety determining which number generator to use.
And another couple determining which random numbers to assign to what game.
You use random.org, and whatever number you get, you just count that many titles down the list. You leave the list in its default order, which on Steam is alphabetical.
So yeah, poor Ethan for not knowing that.
do you assign numbers by release date? alphabetically?
google rng, change number to number of games, sort games by name, start from top of list/stack.
get-random, on powershell, it’s pretty easy tbh
But why use that, and not the random.org as rando suggested earlier? Or pick some other generator?

When in doubt I just launch EU4 again. Nearly 4k hours… 😀
Tim, please, you have to get a new recaptcha widget, I just got sent through 5 or 6 of the damn things

Try creating an account. The recaptcha is disabled for logged in users.
We had to put spam prevention in place because we were combating an obnoxious bot problem here for a while.

Why is this happening?!
We were trying to figure out the captcha mess.

I think Viva la dirt league had a vid on this….Ordering a gaming catheter
I’m curious, is Ethan unintentionally channeling his inner Chidi Anagonye? Will there be a stomach ache involved?
When this happens to me, I tend to default to replaying one of my favorite games, like Portal, Factorio, or Conan Exiles.
