I figure he’s concerned about how bad Ethan is going to react, the cut definitely isn’t superficial with that much blood but it is probably just something that needs stitches.

If you work around sharp things, something will get you. I’m careful with blades, and never get nicked by a knife. Then one day a dishwasher tipped unexpectedly and slashed my thumb with a piece of exposed razor-sharp metal in the sides. I bled more than Ethan and still have the scar 9 years later.

Ethan found a way to use a boxcutter almost as incorrectly as possible, while using for the intended purpose. That’s impressive. Points off for cutting away from himself, but he got all the other no-nos. 8.7, solid work. Give another .5 if he hit an artery or manages to finish the job buy not dropping the knife when he goes to grab the wound.

Ok, I laughed a lot. That said, I do not think it makes sense that Ethan has been so reckless when he had powers. Yes, he could respawn but I do not remember him having a healing factor or being invulnerable to pain. So cuts, stabbings, fallings from middle heights, things like that still hurt and take time to heal. I know he could kill himself in order to heal, but remember, Ethan does not like to die. It is not easy for him.

as someone who did stock fill for woolworths.. sadly this is super common; made worst by the poor quality box cutters they gave us which literally fall apart in our hands.
I’ve worked in a few kitchens and I lost count how many times I had to remind people “Mr. Knife should face away from you”

Ethan’s kind of like (due to not having to worry much) those folk born without any sensors for pain (in that they often hurt themselves because they don’t have the instincts and they can’t get the nerve warnings).
It’s a re-learning for him.
Ultimately, taking on bad guys with now powers… that’s a real risk. And nobody is going to pay for your health costs. And not everyone is Batman…
Maybe it is time to throw in the towel.

Okay, true story. About six years ago I started out at my new job as a laborer. One of my main jobs was to scrape the floors to prepare for flooring. Six months in I’m carrying a scraper and other tools in one hand. I absent-mindedly reached for one of my tools, ended up cutting my pinkie wide open with the scraper. Was bleeding profusely and cursing myself for being an idiot. Had to go to two different hospitals and it took over four hours just to sew it back together.
