In fact what I expect is to Zeke telling them that he is not going to kill him, not even to check if it true that he can’t respawn any longer. That when the revolution begin, then probably kill him but he is not here to make any favour to a skin bag
If that happens I would be sorely disappointed. Why setup something this important to just axe it at the first opportunity? It would nullify most of the impact the last story had. We’re now used to superheroes dying and returning a page later like nothing happens. Ethan was a mockery of that in a way. I truly hope this comic offers something better than just giving the powers back in the next story line, even after an epic confrontation.
Because the point of this comic is that they are superheros. Continuing to keep Ethan in limbo, while simultaneously not showing Lucas still doing patrols and fighting bad guys, is basically making this just classic Ctrl Alt Del.
It needs to get back to the superhero stuff.
How boring would it be to have Superman lose his powers for like 15 issues? Just Clark Kent working his 9-5 day in and day out with nothing happening.
I dunno, Spotlight was a good film. Maybe what we need is to watch Clark Kent’s cutting investigative journalistic approach into sexual abuse in the Catholic Church. Some real genre crossover there.
You can make the point that he is a hero regardless of his powers. You are envisioning superman without powers as boring, but it could be the most important 15 minutes in his entire life. The most exciting 15 minutes of the whole comic. We might be approaching such a point with Zeke. As mentioned, Ethan might have to do something as a hero. If you think that’s boring you can downvote all you like. I’ll not hold it against people to want the return to form. My take is just to do so already would be the boring thing.… Read more »
The only problem with this entire thing, is that Ethan’s powers aren’t the same as Superman’s. Superman has abilities that augment how he functions, so he knows that he’s lost them, and acts in full knowledge. Furthermore, Clark is constantly cautious and practicing self-control because he lives in a world of cardboard that he could accidently tear apart if not paying attention. It is believable that if he lost his powers, he could adapt to understanding his own limitations, because he routinely pretends those are his limitations every day. Ethan’s going forward without knowing if he’s lost his powers, and… Read more »
True, but in effect he can’t ‘use’ his powers. So in practice he lost them. The angst and doubt are too short lived for me is all I’m saying. Did the troll do all that just for a few days of angst, getting him to game inside the house? The confrontation with the troll must mean more than that.
It’d be so much better if it didn’t mean more than that.
The troll got him good for a week or two but then it was revealed for what it was, the troll got a very short run of laughs, and then he’s back to just being Ethan again, and in the end the troll got nothing.
I really think Zeke will value upgrades over money.

And Lucas is probably too busy is his internal drama, so it’s up to non-super Ethan and non-walking Scott, while they quite bonded yet still disagree about Zeke. Great set up.

I will say, I’m glad that he told Ethan straight up that it was a beacon sending a ping. He didn’t try to hide the truth or anything.
Just a small thing, but a good thing, considering their history.

I this the first time Scott has referred to Zeke by name?
I think it’s actually the December 2nd 2022 Brannigan p3 page where Scott changes to referring to Zeke by name? Admittedly there may have been something i missed, but it’s the first time he seems to use Zeke instead of a broader “The Robot”, again, unless i missed one.

That timing is a little TOO perfect.
My theory: Zeke wants to kill Scott- but ONLY Scott. That’s why he waited for Lucas to be out of the picture. He knows (thinks?) that Ethan can’t die, so he figures he can violence his way through Ethan to get to Scott, and then leave it at that.

My prediction:
Zeke mortally wounds Ethan, they have an extremely touching moment when Ethan is dying, and he assumes he’s going to die for real, and that experience changes Zeke’s mind… Then when Ethan passes, he respawns.
All the emotional impact, with no consequences!

If Zeke were to come back (and in whatever way, Ethan was killed and DID NOT spawn again – at least for a time measured longer than moments, days, or even months), Zeke may be changed in one of several ways and make have him hate humanity more or to see them as having some value and thus not worthy of domination or execution. So far, Tim hasn’t killed Ethan permanently in any of the Ctl-Alt-Del series. That would really be shocking and it would really impact Scott, maybe Zeke, definitely Lucas, etc. That’s the fun part I think for… Read more »

perfect timing
Suspiciously perfect. I wonder what Scott has planned with this false alert that he planted?
Zeke’s gonna kill him and he will respawn. Called it first here.
People has been calling that since like the day he lost his powers.
In fact what I expect is to Zeke telling them that he is not going to kill him, not even to check if it true that he can’t respawn any longer. That when the revolution begin, then probably kill him but he is not here to make any favour to a skin bag
My guess is, Scott will go with him and Ethan will place himself in harms way to protect him. Hopefully that will turn Zeke back around too.
zeke did already decide to not kill him specifically so the respawning wouldnt become a chaos factor.

I’m betting he dies protecting Zeke or saving Zeke’s life somehow.
Nah. He’s gonna sacrifice himself to save Zeke knowing he might die for real, then respawn.
Exciting!
