I mean, Cal doesn’t bat an eye at looting new beards and hairstyles out of random lockboxes, so I’m probably overthinking it…
Also, I’m going to launch the Axe-A-Lot-L Kickstarter on Wednesday May 3rd! Follow the link to sign up to be notified when it goes live, and check it out.
In the meantime, I’ll give you a sneak peek at the Kickstarter video intro.
Ah, good ol’ Star Wars Jedi: The Leatherface.
Hi Tim,
It would be really cool if you’d add the title of the games you reference somewhere in the comic or the description.
Especially when reading the old comics it’s sometimes really hard to understand the jokes, since I can’t remember which games were currently hype in the summer of 6 years ago.
You can actually see the title of the game referenced in the bottom left, in grey
Then sorry, me blind, apparently.
Huh, I did not know that. It seems to not always be there, though I guess in the cases I found recently that it wasn’t, the comic was not necessarily about one particular game anyways.
Thanks for pointing that out!
Yeah, I’ve done that for a number of years now. If the title of the game is not explicit within the comic itself, I add the title to the lower left corner.
Thanks a lot! Apparently I never noticed it. Now I know where to lookˆˆ
Tunnel vision…
My pet axolotl just died the other night. I had been planning to surprise the wife by backing the Axe-A-Lot-L game, as she really enjoys stuff like Exploding Kittens, and this felt right up the alley. Now I’m not sure. Game sounds great and I hope it does well, but I’m not sure how she’d react with the loss of Ditto still being so fresh.
Awww, poor Ditto 🙁 How old?
He was a bit over 2 and a half years old. Far too young.
Oh my goodness, that’s so young 🙁 Any idea what happened? Ugh, I’m so sorry.
What type was he?
We have a little 5-month old leucistic named Sushi.
We’re not sure. He was refusing to eat worms for a short while, and losing a bit of weight. Really wishing we had taken him into a vet to get checked out. He was the most playful little guy who loved to follow you around. He’ll be sorely missed. He was a slightly dirty leucistic. His frills got to be a darker red color as he aged, but here’s a baby picture I have of him. https://i.imgur.com/Ae1QtQ9.jpg Wish I had adult pictures of him, but would have to get those from the wife. He ended up having some freckles too… Read more »
🙁 Seems like they can be tough to diagnose without an exotic vet.
Really sorry man. We haven’t had Sushi that long, but I can already see how attached one can get to these little water sausages.
May Sushi live long and prosper with you and your family. The loss of a pet is always hard, so I hope that event is far away and something that doesn’t happen until your kids are grown up and more emotionally prepared, not that you can ever really be ready for it.
Managed to let it slip about the game and the wife smiled while seeing the video, so I may be able to back it and get her something she can fondly remember Ditto while playing, rather than hurting while seeing.
I am sad that I am currently too broke to contribute to this violent, yet intriguing and fun sounding game ?
Hello Tim,
I would suggest you to add Axe-a-lot-l to https://boardgamegeek.com/
It is the reference for everything that is board gaming.
Good luck with you project.
No no, not over thinking it, I think it was perfect lol
Jedi the Ripper
I’m on the waiting list for the Axe-A-Lot-L game. My 10-year-old daughter loves Axolotls too!
The video was cool, but should probably have a link to the Kickstarter on the video description?
This is the video that goes on the top of the Kickstarter campaign page. I’m just giving you an early look.
At first I thought it may be a strip of Starcaster Chronicles (it did seem early, though).
But then I noticed the alien to be admiral Ackbar’s species.
I was going to say the same thing.
It’s a trap!
Well this isn’t too far off considering the other face-removing face-wearing character Cal’s actor has portrayed…
I was wondering if anyone would connect the two XD It was too abstract to make it the point of the comic, but I definitely thought about the connection with that last panel.
Who was that? I had a look at his Wikipedia page, but there’s a fair amount of roles, and I had no idea which could that be.
His Gotham ones. The “totally not Joker” Jerome/Jeremiah roles.
Keep over-thinking it, Tim. That’s where the gold is. Think of how many game secrets, treasures, treats, and bonuses have been achieved in your life of gaming by over-thinking “what’s down this dead end hall-way”? There’s always a shiny treat waiting in the darkness of over-thought.
Also the occasional trap of endless thought and intrusive thoughts. But hey, no good treasure was ever left unguarded.
You missed the opportunity for a “Hello There!” joke, since that looks like Kenobi’s beard.
hmm the game sounds very intresting but my country doesnt really use credit cards (we dont like debt) and kickstarter is a bitch to back without one
Id rather it be instructions on how to than the actual object
Awww when i saw the Character first i hoped for a ‘Its a trap’ joke …
Axolotl are so cool! I have never heard of them as pets, so I immediately had to look it up… and apparently no amphibians at all are legal as pets here. /sadface
They are super neat. That’s too bad about them being illegal, though :/ I know they’re illegal in a few US states.
Hi Tim, What is the age range for the Axe-a-lot-l game?
I’m saying 7+.
From a gameplay standpoint, my kids (7 and 9) were able to get all of the rules very quickly and play independently after a game or two.
From a content standpoint, there’s no graphic blood or violence beyond a Saturday morning cartoon, or humor that wouldn’t be okay for kids. There are some puns and movie references that might go over their heads, but nothing inappropriate.
