Wait until she see’s his power first-hand. And realizes that she’s been wrong about him! Plus it’s a bit more realistic. In the first seris, he won her over with things like ram or “letting” her beat him at every game. Or asking to marry him but entering it as the player names on a coin-op game leader board. Sappy stuff, but then she was a pro-gamer. This time she’s a distrustful reporter that’s seen… stuff…
Not really, as far as I can tell. It’s not that he’s actively hiding his power, but he’s just a bottom-tier hero, not famous or anything. Most people simply don’t know about him, and for the few do (from Lilah’s articles) his superhero theme is ‘video game guy’, not ‘resurrection man’. Other than the handful of enemies he’s had to use it against, there’s little reason anyone would know about his respawns.
Though it is possible he might’ve told Lilah about it.

“Before you make a move …”
So is that when he gets up to have breakfast, or goes to work, or gets in the car, or does she mean just things about “The Troll” … She wasn’t specific, so I’d go with the former to be “safe”
Well someone’s carrying a torch (other than the troll).

….wow, okay so I admit part of me suspected this *MIGHT* have been the case, but it was a very tiny part because the more I thought about it the more I realized that would be showing a greater degree of forethought and planning than Ethan is….well….known for. It makes sense, and is very smart, but this is Ethan, so I figured it was probably not the case. Happy to see I was wrong, well, initially right but then wrong about my second guess. Ethan is a lot smarter than he seems at times. This way he can get information… Read more »
I feel like Tim would be smart enough to never do that. Besides the gross trope, Lilah is the only character that isn’t part of the superhero gang, and you can tell he wants her to be a main character.
agreed. I was worried that the last gf would be, because super heroes, but thankfully Tim never went there.

No, Ethan didn’t come to her just to get closer to her. Trolls made him desperate for info to stop him and Lila’s his only source outside of his friends. Doesn’t mean he isn’t going to awkwardly show his feelings by accident. This is Ethan. I am curious if Lila will pick up on it. I mean most women know when a guy is interested. How will she react? She’s not a horrible person but in the early comics she did compromise for her ambition to be on the Superhero desk. Will she use his feelings as a means to… Read more »
Over here, you used to be able to buy a prepaid mobile package anonymously, they were sold in places like newspaper kiosks, some grocery stores, etc.
(later the law was changed for them to require people’s ID and registering them, but maybe that’s not the case in the comic’s verse?)
Even if it is the case, Ethan could likely in costume walk into a business and ask. “Citizen, may I use your phone for a moment.” and the guy at the counter will say “Sure, local calls only.”
I don’t know which year is the story taking place in, but if mobile phones are like in real life here (you pay a set monthly fee, and can make as many calls as you want), then a random person possibly wouldn’t have much of a reason not to lend their phone to someone – if they trust them not to steal it, at least.
Don’t most mobile phones just list “wireless caller?” Mine does… and I’d like to change it because I’m a business. But the means do so have so far escaped me.

I just feel like there are easier ways to get a girl’s number
You think Ethan would be capable of any of the ‘easier’ ways? 😛

Honestly I’ve been waiting/hoping for the pair up, they worked so well together before the reboot. Yes they’re both very different from how they were before but still, been following since close to the beginning and went back to read what I hadn’t seen when I started.
do i hear wedding bells?

Knowing Ethan, that’s exactly what he’s going to do 😉

If Lila gets fridged, we riot. I mean it.

Getting close to her is just a delightful bonus.
Just out of curiosity, how does a superhero call a reporter in this universe without giving away their identity? Are payphones still a thing?
Presumably burner phones are.
Over here, you used to be able to buy a prepaid mobile package anonymously, they were sold in places like newspaper kiosks, some grocery stores, etc.

Well trust is the big thing, but someone isn’t likely to steal a landline off a front desk.
Don’t most mobile phones just list “wireless caller?” Mine does… and I’d like to change it because I’m a business. But the means do so have so far escaped me.

I really, really like this iteration of Ethan.
