Another shade. Genuine fondness, or perhaps amusement?

Yes, who was asking for more tones?

Yeah, I noticed the light blue colour tone and it was an instant smile 🙂
Also … I a relationshift has happened with 3 very important words used by ZK: I… Trust You … .

That is gonna hit hard when trust is not bidirectional, the meat-bags versus SiliCores.

Is there any canonical (in the strip) information to suggest Zeke isn’t one of a series (or army) of Murder Kill Bots?

Wouldn’t it be interesting to see an evolved Zeke joining the super-team and end up fighting a bunch of his unevolved Murder Bot versions?

Yes. He was a prototype that went haywire.

It is completely with Ethan. He doesnt know about the killswitch at all, but this is certainly going to build to something later. Wheels aught to spend more time with him, but I doubt that is is going to be anything more than a source of pain later.

The fact that Ethan printed spares just in case of anything.

Is Zeke aware of the color changes?

Glaedien
Glaedien

It was written off as a “minor glitch with my LEDs” when Ethan mentioned it the first time around.

It’s hard to say for sure, but the color changes seem to be involuntary. So Z.K. is aware of them, but is perhaps unable (for now) to show as blue while feeling feeling red.

This is going to be such a disaster when Zeke finds out about the bomb. It pre-emptively hurts.

but they have spare parts now. long as the important circuitry and hardware survives enough they can rebuild him.

Isn’t the point of a self destruct to destroy the important bits? They may be able to replace the shell and maybe the mechanical side but the programming and actual ‘brain’ that makes him ZK would (or should if the Master was even semi competent) be lost

The point of the self-destruct was to kill Zeke. The important bits surviving might be important so he can wipe the memory and start again.

In all fairness, Ethan doesn’t know and I feel he should be able to convince Zeke of that by now. Scott and Lucas on the other hand are a different story, so will Zeke’s trust in other humans be from now on. So Ethan could be key here in keeping Zeke on the straight and narrow with his almost innocent like “good-ness”. One thing is certain, though, there will be drama!

Soeaking of drama, how would Ethan react when he finds out? Lukas lied to him (by ommision) and Scott straight out betrayed him.

He’d be super upset and likely wouldn’t forgive for a very long time or maybe ever. I feel like he sees Zeke sort of a hybrid between a pet and a friend.

There is no way Ethan’s relationship with Scott remains intact after learning about this.

This may be Scotts supervillain origin story.

If the bomb is still active, Lucas doesn’t know about it. The last word we got on that was Lucas and Scott agreeing that it would be turned off, but Scott looked highly sus. I’d link to it but the archives on this site really suck.

https://cad-comic.com/comic/identity-p21/ This is what you’re looking for. Scott just tells Lucas “I’ll take care of it…”

So by all accounts, Lucas knew about the bomb, but likely thinks that Scott listened to him and shut it off.

Lucas told Scott to disable it, so I fail to see how Lucas would be responsible if Scott didn’t do that.

Perhaps Scott will become a villain over this?
Oh, the drama!

While that’s possible, Scott’s disabled and a regular human, so he’d have to operate through agents.

He isn’t a “regular” human. He can make super-tech. The grapples and such that Ethan has are way beyond normal tech.

Regular human in terms of fighting ability (Ethan is effectively immortal, and Lucas has his arrow-y powers), and still disabled, meaning he wouldn’t be able to do much directly, whether the things he makes exceed the boundaries of normal tech or not.

Hence, he’d have to work through agents.

He was a villain in the original run of this story… when they weren’t superheroes and all that. But there was also some eldritch penguin pulling his strings, so who knows at this point.

Lucas asked Scott to disable, or expand, the security perimeter. Different than disabling the failsafe, he expects that to remain intact. Scott’s reply was sufficiently cryptic to leave lots of room for concern.

“I’ll take care of it” is so wonderfully vague.

Zeke knows there’s a bomb in him.
And I’m too busy to go back checking atm.. but didn’t they tell scott to disarm the bomb. Now, the question is, if scott went through with it anyways.

Zeke and Ethan were told that the bomb was disabled. Scott revealed elsewhere that the bomb was still active and geofenced either to that room or to the store.

Lucas thinks Scott agreed to disarm it but Scott had some carefully phrased language. https://cad-comic.com/comic/identity-p21/

I think we’re only gonna get green after Ethan takes a hard stand and actually saves Zeke from that situation, but only after some real shit

Its been subtle but he has had duct tape over it the last few chapters.

I have one very tiny concern about this development: I assume Ethan just 3D-printed the schematics ZK gave him without reviewing them. If that is the case, there could potentially be more in there than just replacement for the broken parts. While I don’t think that ZK is still secretly hostile to everyone, the thought that they have access to potential hardware updates is concerning.
Just food for thought.

I like how ZK is developing, all the while training the audience how to read “facial expressions” of an automaton.

This “bomb under the table” situation is getting very tense, at least for me

I think that’s the first time ZK has said “thanks” or really showed any genuine gratitude. Like, he went from “I want to wear your skin as a suit” to being sincerely grateful to Ethan.

Aaaaaaw, sky-blue.

…I wonder if he can control those colours, akin to a human making a deceiptful facial expression, or whether he can’t, akin to a human who always shows exactly how he feels about something at any given time.

…either way, it’s very human of him.

I’m surprised Ethan didn’t print one with orange and yellow flames on it.
