And so, she will stab him in the neck and that how we will find that his powers have returned !

(sorry, I could not help myself !)

She already stabbed him through his hopeful heart.

There’s no healing that. Even with a respawn.

Guess we had to get back to her eventually. I don’t personally like her, but Tim can do what he wants with his comic, I suppose…

Tim, you’re just the best. lol

But hey… at least you got permission to do what you want with your own intellectual property! It’s a great day.

No way! I’m looking forward to this part of the story. No one really cares what either of us think though.

That’s cool, I hope you find enjoyment in this arc. And who knows, maybe I will too, even if I’m not presently looking forward to her inclusion in it.

So I’m guessing that “In The Sea” is the second part of the saying that starts with “Plenty Of Fish”?
So it’s not the arc that’s going to have Ethan x Lilah. I mean, her attitude already makes it obvious that she’s not into him.

I think that’s why people dislike her in this reboot/universe. She’s cold and uncaring and Ethan still has a mad crush for her and is catering to her way too much. Some would call that simping.
And she doesn’t seem like she’s above manipulating Ethan by feigning interest.

Maybe she’s just a professional who does not mix private and pleasure? It doesn’t matter how hot hero x or y is. You do not just ask them on a date. Not to mention the sheer complexities involved. She’s talking to his hero identity. How will you do you cross that gap to private? Can you still report on them? What happens if you break up? She’s got the dirt, he’s got superpowers that can be a pain, and possibly dirt on the side. Maybe she’s interested, but I would fully support someone in her position to not show any… Read more »

I don’t recall which comic it was, but back when he actually asked her out she flat out told him that she doesn’t mix her professional and romantic life. It wasn’t a hint or an indirect thing, it was a flat out statement. She even apologized for how bluntly she stated it, and explained it.

People really don’t process that Lois Lane acts incredibly unethically every time she interviews or writes about Superman once she’s in a relationship with him

Clark writes bylines about himself.

I can’t tell if you’re using that as an excuse of Lois or not. If you aren’t, then cool, you’re correct, Lois isn’t the only unprofessional journalist there. Superman had some interesting stories, and being a “hard hitting investigative journalist” was a plot foil to get Lois into mortal peril so very very often — but she (and the majority of her team at The Daily Planet) would be shunned by the journalistic community at large for their sheer lack of ethics with regards to Superman related stories. Clark would probably be the least shunned because he just pours “wholesome… Read more »

I for one enjoy her

If people are mad that’s their problem

If the reason they are mad is because she is “cold and uncaring” while Ethan’s heart is beating like a drum…

…then Tim is a better writer than I realised (and I particularly like his character representation)

More power to the creator I say

😁

Honesty, I get real gamergate from a lot of these anti-Lilah posts. They act like shes a bad person just because she’s not into Ethan at the moment. If I was her I’d be very careful to be a bit “cold.” It’s the best way to keep reminding someone who is clearly still into her that he needs to keep this relationship professional.

She sees a new look, is interested why he has protection, asks if he’s good, showing concern he disappeared after the troll situation… Even if she then mentions the scoops. Personally I’m not sure why they label her as cold. She’s concerned with him on a personal level, insofar they can be with his hero persona. Should she instantly run to him as a long lost lover? Is she forced to flirt as she’s the current love interest of Ethan? In her professional capacity I’m not sure how you can be more warm than she did. It might not say… Read more »

I think the bigger issue that people have is that in this reboot Lilah is just a completely different character wearing the same name and face. And tbh, I don’t mind that at all. OG Lilah was simping a lot for Ethan. Their relationship was extremely one-sided and Lilah was more of Ethan’s mom than his equal partner. New Lilah is just an entirely separate character. She’s got a job that she cares for, she’s got goals, she’s got motivations, she’s much more real than before. And none of them revolve around Ethan apart from her hoping she’ll get some… Read more »

This is a reasonable take I think. With our four main characters, there’s obviously the whole setting update that makes them all different from the original, but it’s in different ways. Ethan is the closest I’d say, while Lucas is similar in attitude but got a nice bonus to being a pretty successful playboy compared to his bad luck with ladies in the original. Scott is pretty different but still has his paranoia and tech skills. Then there’s Lilah, whose main components were ‘in love with Ethan’ and ‘Plays video games, really well actually’. Now objectively, that makes her a… Read more »

That flatness of her character in CAD 1.0 I think is the main reason I’m not looking forward to her presence in 2.0. Seems like her main purpose in CAD 1.0 was just so Ethan could have romance and relationship drama, without a whole lot else to set her apart as her own character. Hopefully Tim will eventually prove otherwise to skeptics like me by actually making her an interesting addition to 2.0’s regular cast of characters down the road. But so far, I’m always relieved when Ethan’s secret identify and Lilah’s ties to her own life and career keep… Read more »

Man anytime someone uses the word simp or simping I immediately just… value their opinion less. Try looking at her as something other than Ethan’s romantic interest right now maybe? The only real evidence in this comic that Ethan even thinks of her that way still is panel 3 but that could also just be interpreted as being glad that *someone* noticed him not being out on the streets because it’d mean that when he was he was making a difference.

Interesting to see his potential loss of powers hasn’t been discovered, even by a superhero focused media outlet.

I, for one, do like new Lilah. Old Lilah was mostly there so that Ethan can have a wife. Their relationship was super one-sided. She’d cover his rear, fix his problems, play mom for him and got pretty much nothing out of it. Her whole existence just revolved around Ethan. New Lilah has things she cares about (e.g. her job), has goals, has a life, she’s a standalone character. Her interest in Ethan is purely professional. She’s pretty much a new, separate character, that happens to wear OG Lilah’s name and face. I guess, if you expected Lilah to continue… Read more »

I really do like her in the new comic. Honestly wish we saw more of her. Though, by the title of this particular chapter (“Matched”), I’m starting to think this could finally be the moment when she joins the regular cast.
