Calling it now: At some point Ethan will die to protect her and that’s when he’ll definitively find out for sure that his powers weren’t really gone.

Likely as himself rather than in his superhero ego, even.

Orrrr… given that this arc is called “Matched,” is Ethan using an app like Lucas (well, once he figured out the correct app for a heterosexual such as himself), and then he runs across Lilah that way? It was briefly titled “In the Sea,” perhaps alluding to all of the ‘fish’ in the sea, that he’ll match with the one he wanted to all along?

Except she said his mask would not fool anybody with eyeballs, so… that would be quite the awkward situation, indeed.

Honestly, I’m not willing to bet money that Ethan remembers her saying that. I can totally see him shooting his shot with Lilah on a dating app and her immediately recognizing him.

Or he will finally realize that there are other fish in the sea and there’s no point in running after the one who explicitly stated multiple times that she’s not romantically interested in him, only because she has the same name as his wife from his last life.

Eventually someone will be right. I do not think it’ll be this however. Tim has shown many of the larger tropes of narratives do not apply. If I had my two cents it wouldn’t be such a straight heroic thing. What use is just giving people what they want? It needs to be emotional, impactful, and a big moment that changes him forever. Jumping in front of a bullet to save someone lacks impact. It has been done a thousand times already. My guess? Ethan needs to decide for himself. He’s wounded or locked away.
