Maybe call more than just a kid who will probably get murdered? Like captain prime? There’s a whole city of superheroes and the whole city is being threatened!
I dunno, GB seems pretty good at flying under the radar. Big-time supers presumably fall under “if we catch so much as a WHIFF of police presence”–one small-time kid who’s shown a level of competence and that most people don’t know about? He will be underestimated, and could potentially even go undetected.
But what other contacts do they have? They have no one else in touch, including Zeke. True, they can also try to reach the police to lend them some official heros, but Gameboy is a must. He’s in their team, they already worked together once, and he’s terribly useful against speedsters
Dunno. I see your point, but he’s not a toddler. He knows what he’s doing, got mother permission and is more powerful than grown-up. He is actively looking for this sort of stuff. Wouldn’t you at least ask him if he is interested?
Something to consider here is that this is a world with super powered individuals. The ideal is that the adult heroes would handle everything, but sometimes, you are playing high stakes rock-paper-scissors, and they have a rock and all you have is scissors – it’ll behoove the heroes to ensure they can find the paper if they want to stop the villains. Gameboy’s powers are *very* apt for the current opposition, and that’s in addition to being not only the sort of child Elijah wants to protect, but *also* the exact thing that proves his worldview wrong – Elijah might… Read more »
It was a public broadcast so on some level, the police should already be aware of the threat. Shouldn’t be that hard to convince them to give them additional backup.
Nowadays it would be more efficient to claim troll hires illegal immigrants. You would have ICE, 2000 national guard, and maybe some marines on troll’s ass. Ethan could get some gaming in even. Troll wants to use false claims? Dangerous territory to play in…
Come on, be better than this. You sound like a teenager. It’s trashy. Besides, reverse-trolling is much more nuanced. What you’re describing sounds like a racist form of swatting, and nobody needs that crap.
We can guess that the city is doing its part… probably the guy that dies in an horrible accident with the chem is Lucas boyfriend…and he ended killing the Troll
Although I agree in general terms, it might stay Elijah’s hand in two ways. One, he’s a kid, which is who he is trying to protect (although we’re less certain how he’ll react to a gaming kid, which was what killed his brother). Two, the speedster is mostly coming into close quarters instead of zooming around with a gun. If Gameboy can touch him, he can freeze the speedster. The same goes for the hacker. His way of attacking favours physical touch. That means Gameboy can freeze two targets. And third, they should call actual superheroes to deal with a… Read more »
He may already be aware of the matter and be planning to go investigate himself. It Was a public broadcast troll. Better to go As a team, than 1 versus 3.
Actually, Game Boy might be a good pick, since Elijah is there, though it’s risky
The Troll would have absolutely no problem with killing a child, but Elijah would be 100% against it, meaning we can potentially get the bad guys to start infighting
Not to mention Game Boy is the perfect counter to Alex (who would also probably be hesitant to actually kill a child)
It’s a very risky move, and not one I would take, but then again I wouldn’t approve of a minor doing ANY superhero stuff to begin with, full stop
Someone who specializes in moving extremely quickly. In old diablo 2, aura paladin and fury barbs were speedsters used to scout for portals/minibosses.
They had extra backup when they dealt with him last time before the prison lock up, when he “took away” Ethan’s powers, even though I’m pretty sure that was just to mentally screw with him. Maybe this’ll be how he finds out, he pushed Sam out of the way of falling debris once already and “died” saving him. Even without knowing about his powers being there he might do it again.
If you want to jump on this community’s apparent “Everyone and their dog in this comic’s universe is somehow aligned with the Troll or soon will be!!” bandwagon, then sure.
Yeah, he was. The chemicals only disfigured him physically. Seems some here are confusing his origin story with the Joker’s.

First of all, Elijah vs Gameboy is ON, As prophesied! Great success!
Second, both groups collect superpowered characters for some great battle, which is literally a round of Super Smash Bros
Cue Elijah getting swarmed and dogpiled by so many people he has no room left to dodge or run. 😉

Doesn’t want him to take the subway this late but is fine with him fighting criminals/super villains. Mom got her priorities right, ranking late night subway more dangerous than common criminals/your everyday super villain. XD
In a subway train, there is nowhere to go if trouble occurs. Outside of the train, there is two but functionally only one way to go to escape. And his mother is his Person In Th Chair, reception might not be the best underground, so she can’t help, and he can’t get help if all that’s down there is himself and the problem.
At street level and up, he has so many more options to stay safe.

A Big Woohoo! For Lucas calling the whole nicole matter as ‘That Bullshite’.
May the fecal matter hit the rotating oscillatory unit at high speeds and be evenly distributed all over her when she learns of her new nickname.

I’m gonna file the moral underpinnings of enlisting a minor to this fight under “suspension of disbelief.” I don’t think anybody doubts it would be SUPER awful irl, but for the purposes of the story I’m going to completely ignore that so that we can all see the teamup.

How is Elijah on board with attacking an entire city that largely isn’t related to the video game industry?
It’s an entire city that harbors video games, has video game themed public events, and glorifies video game heroes.
Plenty of reasons it needs to be made to see reason and be forced to swear off video games forever, or possibly destroyed if it refuses to change its wicked ways.
It’s not a sane reason, but Elijah isn’t exactly operating on sane reasoning.

Prediction: Zeke will be there.
As an AI with access to the internet, Zeke will easily have come across the Troll’s message.
And no one is going to take out these two favorite meat-sacks except Zeke.
Personally I like the idea that Zeke will be there because he has been gaming on the Internet and is annoyed at trolls and ‘the troll’ is the embodiment of them so it gives him an opportunity to let out his frustrations.
Just imagine Zeke killing Ethan for the lolz at the end of the fight, not knowing about his potential condition (Zeke doesn’t know, right?). And thus we find that Ethan can indeed still respawn.

So… I’m pretty sure that Ethan would have noticed Nicole having a kid. And I feel like Gameboy’s mom is too well adjusted for this to be a possibility. But I’m still kinda hoping she’s Gameboy’s mom somehow. Or maybe aunt. Just for the sheer wtf-ness of it.
Omnitropolis is like a million people (maybe even more) in population, yet some readers always think that the characters that they meet are randomly other characters that they already know in the story.

but he’s a kid, seriously, risking a kid’s life is pretty irresponsible

When he’s an adult.
You might want to remember, he lives in the city too.
He’s in danger whether he participates or not.
what kind of parent allows a kod to do that exatly
Another super, perhaps? Look at The Incredibles…

They _do_ make sure that he doesn’t get abducted in the subway, don’t they?
Or stabbed in the neck.
Since when has Ethan ever been known for his overactive sense of responsibility?
It was a public broadcast so on some level, the police should already be aware of the threat. Shouldn’t be that hard to convince them to give them additional backup.

Literally call the police at that point. We already know police has supers on call, including captain prime.
This was a public broadcast, so I’d expect police to already be on the case, so why not pool resources?
Cops and vigilantes generally do not work well together. Especially when you do not if the cops believe the Troll when he said Analog pushed him in.

So we’re using a minor as a human shield? I get this isn’t reality but…
More like a nearly-indestructible tank
A gunman killed Elijah’s brother, not a game.
He may already be aware of the matter and be planning to go investigate himself. It Was a public broadcast troll. Better to go As a team, than 1 versus 3.

oh no, the kid is PERFECT. what better way to get the speedster to side with you than to put him into a forced side choice by bringing a kid!
What is a speedster?
Someone who specializes in moving extremely quickly. In old diablo 2, aura paladin and fury barbs were speedsters used to scout for portals/minibosses.
Why not just use the flash? The most famous version of any speedster.
Captain Prime is probably the same as Captain Marvel in the MSU.
When all the attacks are happening, she’s conveniently elsewhere.
Game Boy is the perfect counter to Elijah, especially if Team Bullshit doesn’t know what his power is.
GameBoy!!
Perhaps soon-to-be “Troll Jr.”?
If you want to jump on this community’s apparent “Everyone and their dog in this comic’s universe is somehow aligned with the Troll or soon will be!!” bandwagon, then sure.
That’s not really what they’re saying…they’re referring to the threatened chemical bomb affecting Gameboy.
The chemicals didn’t turn the Troll evil, he was evil before, right?
Yeah, he was. The chemicals only disfigured him physically. Seems some here are confusing his origin story with the Joker’s.
First of all, Elijah vs Gameboy is ON, As prophesied! Great success!
Second, both groups collect superpowered characters for some great battle, which is literally a round of Super Smash Bros
troll is master hand
OK, so he’s probably calling in Gameboy.
But how funny would it be if he actually was just asking random Smash opponents if they want to come?
Cue Elijah getting swarmed and dogpiled by so many people he has no room left to dodge or run. 😉

aw yeah, team up with game boy
I forget, what can gameboy do again?
Pause (freeze in place) items and people he touches.
This could be interesting. Curious to see if the kid can neutralize a speedster. Though that’s a lot of kinetic energy thats going to be transferred.
Hopefully some of the other heroes in the city will have checked out the QR code and could show up as backup.
Hopefully they’re not useless adults who cant figure out how QR codes work lol
