I don’t think there’s going to be a better opportunity for respawning than taking a sacraficial leap of faith with the villain. It just fits so much in this.
It can’t be that much dangerous, since the Troll wants to jump along.
It definitely won’t be enough to make Ethan respawn, unless he specifically tries to drown himself, which should be difficult because of primal survival instinct.
Troll wanting to jump (assuming that’s even genuine) says nothing about the danger, Troll is insane enough that he would be willing to go for mutual destruction. He was even laughing last time he dropped in a truck of unspecified chemicals. (and if this is the same stuff, it could still mutilate Ethan even if it won’t make Trolls face worse.)
I tend to go to the view of Patton as adapted by me:
“War is not about dying for your city, it’s about making the other poor bastard die for his whacky BS views“
I dont know if there will be a respawn here. But I do think Ethan is going to get a redemption on this. Have an opportunity not to let go and prevent the Troll from falling into the vat again.
Maybe the redemption will be finally accepting that the Troll does not want to be saved, or helped, or have a closure. Maybe this time Ethan should let him fall, on the camera, knowing that his conscience is clear
In a slightly more realistic universe, sure. But this is a superhero universe we’re talking about here, where even the most minor of head coverings or facial accessories stops anyone from recognizing you, EG Clark Kent’s glasses. It’s silly, but easily overcome from from an audience perspective with a little suspension of disbelief.
Well, since you invoke that, I invite you to watch the original Superman movie with Christopher Reeve (or alternatively, the clips I’m about to describe are easy to find on youtube). There’s a scene where Reeve actually transitions from the Clark persona to the Superman Persona on camera, and it’s kinda impressive how different they look. The portrayal doesn’t just leave it at ‘he’s wearing glasses’. As Clark, Reeve appreciably raises his voice, changes his speech pattern and mannerisms, slouches to make it look like appear a few inches shorter, hunches his shoulders forward to appear scrawnier, and even changed… Read more »
Even the new Superman movie has Clark looking a bit different than he does as Superman by taking it a step further by having him style his hair differently as well. As Clark, his hair is messier along with his glasses, it does make him look a bit different than as Superman where he looks all clean cut and better styled hair.
Reeve’s Superman did that as well. As Superman, his hair is parted on the right and looks a bit wavy, while his Clark Kent parts his hair on the left, and it’s very straight.
That’s really cool. I spent a little time rewatching the scenes, and it’s clear as day! Thanks for that!

In comes Nicole “where have you been? THIS is more important than me?”
Kicks the Troll in the nuts, the Troll falls in the vat while grabbing nicole and we have a new harley quinn that somehow falls in love with the troll.
Maybe it’s just that I find myself LOATHING dear Nicole (btw, great job Tim, I haven’t felt this much wanna-face-punch-a-character since Sanderson wrote Sadeas), but this is perhaps the best way to put her on a bus. She can recur if needed, but it ships her off the main line.

Would be funny if Tim pulled a Deadpool here and the Troll fall in then come out with a face like Tom Cruise lol

I feel like a second dose of horrid green goop can’t be good for you. Best case scenario? No additional effects.
Interesting because an alternate universe Ethan also got his power to respawn due to the same green thing that killed him, and died after killing the main green thing.
That shouldn’t happen, even if we believe Troll somehow found out and replicated those exact chemicals.
Ethan getting powers wasn’t just about the goo, it also involved a lightning bolt channeled trough an arcade machine. And those same circumstances gave Lucas entirely different powers. There’s enough randomness involved that that accident shouldn’t be replicable.

Lucas: – Saves Ethan last minute –
Troll: What?!
Audience: – Edged on whether or not Ethan has his powers yet again –

Troll said he’s filming this… he could easily jump/flip himself into the vat, pretending Ethan threw him in to further frame Ethan for supposed violence…

still amounts to killing someone

With everything you know about Ethan, you think he HAS a primal survival instinct ? lol Lucas is required to keep Ethan alive
And perhaps our hero too.

Yeah, I see no problem in killing the troll at this point.
But then again, I was never a fan of this cliché that the hero must never kill the villain (though minions seem to be ok for some reason, even when they are less evil). I cheered at the end of Deadpool when he gave Francis what he deserved.
Not a simple solution here. It’s the trolly problem

Fuck that. Toss him in. Give the weirdo a second bath.
The bigger concern would be that it just turns him green and deformed and not kill him to respawn.
“mix our juices” ew lmao
You stole my line (so I’m seconding it)
Ethan is psychic. He already exclaimed “Geh!”.
I would have more expected a line like that from the troll though.
Also notice the second panel… I know that’s Troll’s foot, but it’s a bad image.
Uh oh, Troll is gripping Ethan’s helmet. Wonder if it and his mask are about to come off?
I’m sure that anyone who’s seen them at the game store have put two and two together by now. 😅

Nah, that’s the worst-case scenario, outside of death. No, best case scenario is that the Troll ends up looking like a green super model.
No, worst case is The Troll gets actual super powers asside from being insane and green.
Like imagine The Troll with super strength or invulnerabity…
Alternate universe Ethan died because of something green. Coincidence? Damn right it is
Interesting because an alternate universe Ethan also got his power to respawn due to the same green thing that killed him, and died after killing the main green thing.
Haven’t red all of Analog and Dpad, so now i’m confused hahaha
Imagine if this ends with the Troll copying Ethan’s ability to respawn… that would be bad.
That shouldn’t happen, even if we believe Troll somehow found out and replicated those exact chemicals.

where’s wednesday comic?
The Troll is clearly causing the delay, he trolled us all!
You really should read the blog posts under the comic.
Tim has moved to a Monday and Friday schedule for the free comic and is keeping the Monday, Wednesday, and Friday schedule for his patrons.
Actually, now that we’re in week 2 of the M-F only free comics, “Wednesday’s comic” (from the Patreon) is actually next Monday’s public comic.
Btw… Im the troll trolling you.
