I Disagree. sometimes its nice to go to the movies. COULD i watch it at home a month or 2 later sure. is my son going to remember that time i turned on netflix. no not really. sometimes its more about the experince than the actual event.
Or, sometimes if the movie isn’t very good, its still great because it gets you out of the house. When you haven’t been able to take your wife for a day overnight or a weekend since 2017, dealing with independent individuals, just going out for two ours or three if we can grab food. You don’t get a day away because you would have to be a nurse (so they can some pills every 3rd of a day) or hire nurse support 24 hours and thus you’d have to pay 24 pays of nurse value… if you can find one… Read more »
To each his own. I hate going to the theater and not only bc it’s expensive af and full of people. I have literally 0 interest about it. If it’s nice to you, good, but that’s not the same for everyone.
I hit the absolute jackpot with Lego Movie 2. It might be the only movie I ever saw in theaters on opening day (Thanks, cereal box coupon!) and my surprise of being assigned a seat supports as much. (Inception is the only other one where I attended without friend or family, and only because I had a coupon that let me pay with a food donation and no money, so I gave a can of tuna.) In LM2, there were 2 pairs of seats available on opposite sides and fellow patrons had to inform me that I read it backwards… Read more »

I’ve not had a good experience at a theater in a long time. Way too many poorly-raised jackasses out there that are little more than animals. They certainly don’t know how to behave in public. I’d rather stay home and stream something in my underwear than to deal with the wild animals cosplaying as human beings that will inevitably ruin my theater experience.

Is there assigned seating in movie theaters now‽ As last time I went to a movie (albeit almost a decade ago), there was not, so how could purchasing multiple tickets guarantee a safe zone around you‽
The last theater I went to had assigned seating. I saw part of the Demon Slayer movie, but had to leave part way through because the jackasses behind me and to my right side would *NOT* shut the fuck up. Talking amongst themselves while on their fucking phones, barely paying attention to the movie, from the moment they sat down to the moment I got up and left. I ended up leaving around halfway through because I couldn’t take it anymore.
Please tell management when this happens so we can tell those jerks to kindly stuff it or they gtfo. We try to stay on top of it with theater checks, though we don’t always have staff coverage, but we want people to be respectful of the shared viewing experience.
where I live it’s normal to have assigned seating. You literally pick your chairs when you buy the tickets, the chairs/rows are also mentione on the ticket.

This is why I wait till the movie has been out for a few weeks and the theaters are mostly empty.

God I feel this.. When I saw Resident evil this couple sat behind me and talked the whole time. Like a full discussion of their relationship, dinner, the fucking color of the carpets outside the theater in the lobby. It was so annoying…. Saw Primetime a week later and a dude pulled out his phone as a flashlight so he could read a book.
Thank god when I saw street fighter the audience just enjoyed the damn movie.

This is why I only ever watch movies at the Alamo Drafthouse. They have a zero tolerance policy for talking and will absolutely evict you from the theater if you break it.

According to Sheperd Book there is a special level of hell reserved for people who talk at the theater.
Shepherd was also under the delusion that Malcom was the abuser in his marriage when he was obviously the victim.

Movies are expensive considering many of them arent good. Theres VERY few movies I’ve seen in the past decade in theaters that I felt “Yeah, this was money well spent” rather than “that was mid. Will never remember that”

wait, only 6? what about the NE, NW, SE, SW positions?
he sits in the back, so 3 in front and 1 on each side
Weird this was published in July, but my RSS feed only tells me now… is this a Patreon thing I get access later?
It was published in July for patreons only. Now it bacame public.
One downside of not being on Patreon is that the comics talking about current events, like games and such, get published with months of delay.
Not so problematic for the stories, but for these…
still not much of an issue
It’s also not problematic for these, to be fair.
No point to theaters anymore when good large TVs and sound systems have been pretty affordable for a long time now

I go to the movies every now and then but it’s more rare than it used to be because it’s so expensive now.
I’d watch movies on my phone over going to the theater.
Stopped going to the movies, except with the kids for kids stuff where I take it for granted there is not going to be peace, exactly for that.
Spending money to relax and enjoy a story and getting out of the teathre more stressed than I went in is a no no.
