It makes sense. The troll has shown a willingness to murder if you don’t play along, and they’ve got pretty good reason to doubt Analog’s ability to deal with this alone. The concerning thing is that the Troll probably knows that the city would respond this way if he made a public callout like this, and I think his plan is actually targeting the intervention. We suspect that Dr. Whatshisface granted the Troll actual superpowers, and I think he’s using Analog to bait the big leagues.
I know right, they’re actually taking things seriously instead of just assuming a random vigilante has things covered. No offense to our main characters.
I was getting more Martian Man Hunter vibe’s. But these comic’s are inspiration’s of all sort of element’s. So it could be a bunch of different thing’s really.
It means one of several things. Ever seen demolition man? The hostages were already dead, which was why they couldnt be detected on thermals. The dead bodies being on ice that is, which gets the cop framed for their murder by escalating the situation and causing the bad guy to blow up the meat packing plant.
The strip series title concerns me. ‘Surrender?’ Reminds me of ‘Demolition’ where the thing that ended up getting demolished in the end was Ethan/Emily.
Could end up with the cops sicced on Ethan (a trolling move to make him the ‘bad guy’) or ZK showing up and being discovered. Hopefully Ethan/Analog at least has a spy cam on him.
god, john spartan had a shitty lawyer. move number one would have been to verify the hostages hadnt already been killed. soon as i heard ‘only detected 8 on thermals’ my assumption would have been that they were dead before the explosion
I know right? He totally treated Analog with respect too. Shame Analog had to geek out, but hey, at least the city is on board.

Seems like there are many cool and famous superheroes we don’t even know about. Imagine a normal person seeing trolls message and thinking “Who the hell is this analog?”

Must be a nice temporary distraction for Ethan from Troll’s bullshit

Considering that The Troll caused one of their own to commit suicide I’m certain there’s a few A list superheroes who would love to see him go down and possibly be locked in a room with Deathblood for five minutes.

That’s what I was talking about, in a previous strip. It just makes sense, for everyone to work together. Cops, official supers, and Analog. I bet that, while they don’t know him, this is more than just protocol. That they’re willing to give Analog the benefit of the doubt regarding the “did he throw him off the roof” thing. They know those situations all too well, so they can relate. It looks that way, for now. Let’s hope the troll is not some genius-level leader and mastermind, with guys infiltrated everywhere. Or maybe he got some dangerous superpowers now. But… Read more »
In issue 3 the Troll outright asks what Analog’s power is, sarcastically suggesting, “lame costume design?” Analog’s power might not even be well known. For one thing, they are LOCAL heroes patrolling mostly ONE borough (per Lucas). The phasing guy with the glove (issue 2) would have told a story about a vigilante who blew himself up right in front of him, then came back to life in a videogame blip. And that might strain credulity even in a world of superheroes. They’ve only been in photos, not video, and basically all of the action where Analog has ‘died’ has… Read more »
Yeah. You have a point. I had thought along those two general concepts in the past. I was even thinking about the glove kid, as well. This is an edge (and a potential for interesting plot twists) that Analog would do well to use again. I bet it’ll pop up in such a fashion, sooner or later. Aside from the big advantage in almost no one knowing what his power even is (I doubt the troll knows anything significant)… By its very nature, Ethan’s power is difficult to figure out. Any witnesses would be quite likely to fail at figuring… Read more »

At this point, Ethan needs a body cam to give him evidence of his innocence for whatever the Troll has in place for him.

The “human life” qualifier is an interesting one.
Is that just formal speech or foreshadowing that there will be danger to “non-human” life soon?

Stall? This is Ethan’s chance to try to out-troll the Troll!

Calling it now: Analog’s power will provide a useful edge and/or interesting twist, at some point in the future. Think about it. Almost no one knows what his power even IS. And by its very nature, any witnesses would be quite likely to fail at figuring out what power he has. They could guess teleportation, cloning, illusions… Depending on the exact circumstances. All this, can come quite handy when dealing with any enemies. Remember when he shocked that bank robbing kid? The one with the glove that gave him speedster powers? He could do something of the sort, again. I… Read more »
Wow the authorities have a plan in place, good on them.

This isn’t just some random vigilante. This is the guy who allegedly throws people off rooftops. Anything could happen. Better be prepared.
good
This is a Dr. Manhattan homage, right?
You mean the Martini glass shaped stripes on the chest? Then yes. Otherwise, also yes 🙂
Martini glass shaped stripes? I never would have noticed that, to me it just looks like a Y lol ^^

nah, this guy’s got his clothes on
Cool, now we have an assumable heroe casualty for the history ?
Think about how much the autograph will be worth!
This is pretty good! Phasar seems powerful and him not being able to detect hostages is a good sign.
Which means…I’m waiting for the other shoe to drop!

He really did.
Given we know The Troll is a group now it’s possible the hostages are all over the place :/.
Maybe the hostages, are Trolls, instead.
Or not there at all, but in some other place, with Troll (or one of his flunkies) putting remotely-accessed screen, camera, speaker and a mic there.
FINALLY! So when do things go boom anyway?
I’m getting Demolition Man vibes here. I’m worried that the hostages are already dead, and that’s why there are no life signs.
inb4 Phasar dies horribly just seconds after he starts to get involved.
In stories like this? “Too good to be true” often means it is.
Why do I feel like Phasar is going to die?
Priorities … 🙂
Only a few panels, but so far this is one of the most reasonable/civil supers we’ve seen, aside from GB kid.
