Thats the joke in the last panel – yup it already occured to at least one of them. (Based on Ethans face, he did NOT expect this reaction, but he really should have.)
I’m probably taking this too seriously but would they? As Ethan doesn’t leave a mess of partially digested food behind when he respawns, it is reasonable to assume that he would respawn with whatever is still in his stomach.
Which leads to some really grizzly ideas on to effectively neutralize his spawn ability….
Theoretically, Lucas could butcher Ethan’s stomach and/or intestines and get the key out… but I doubt he’d go that far. Cruelty to Ethan aside, that would be worse than “just” being the same room as Ethan, when he… pushes they key out. And there would be a lot of blood (and probably body parts) to clean afterwards.
I admit it, I probably played too much RimWorld, to even be considering it. 😉
Doesn’t matter. Ethan doesn’t necessarily respawn in the exact same location, so while Lucas would still have the handcuff attached, the other cuff would just be left dangling, which is still a better prospect than being trapped in the shitter with Ethan.
Remember kids: handcuff keys are all alike, not to mention they’re hilariously easy to pick or bypass; you can do either with a small piece of wire. Unless you’re in custody, they’re trivial to get out of. No need to cut steel (or bone).

So it is ‘out’. Legitimately curious Where it is sold at that you can hold the game in your hand? You do not Own it otherwise and for something this big you are going to want a physical copy to say you can keep playing when the steam etc store goes down due to poor management.
the day steam is gone we would have others problems I think.

This Baldurs Gate game does look promissing. I think I’ll check it out.

It’d be funny if killing Ethan made the key disappear with his corpse, only to respawn still inside him.
After all, if his clothes do…
It’s also kinda weird, that Lucas hasn’t tested his arrows against steel yet. I’d assume he’d be the kind to learn his power’s limits, and “can I break through really tough stuff?” sounds like a priority question.
The real question is, what were the robot ninjas the Master sent out made of? Lucas ripped through quite a few of those with arrows and stopped swords. He’s also lifted a car with one. I imagine it’s reasonable to assume with proper leverage, maybe even a second arrow to act like scissors, he could cut a chain.
Sometimes, it is good to be reminded that Ethan is just as silly today than back in 2002
He could always cut Ethan in half, im pretty sure the keys will just pop out once he respawns.

Ah, I thought he meant he would chop his hand off.
true, but then Ethan would be alive without a hand. He can’t blay Baldur’s Gate or Diablo like that!
i mean in ethan’s case, there is a temporary solution to a temporary problem
McBain: “That’s the joke.”

Would it? The situation asks a new question about how his powers work. Just like the invisible man- when does the thing you eat “become you”?
And what happens to the food Ethan eats before respawning. Are we violating conservation of mass here?
?
I’m in this comic, and I’m not sure how I feel about it. . .
You are a hot cup of coffee? Impressive how you can write a post
No no, he’s left oriented, like the arrow.
He could always chop the chain between the cuffs and let Ethan poop in agony alone. ?
That’s what he’s about to try in the last panel.
ethan has made a grave error in judgement
You could have stopped at “Ethan”
No one can stop Ethan!

Yeah, you’re right. It’s safe to assume some of all that, was at least as tough as a thin steel chain.
Maybe Lucas knows, and is just being mean to Ethan. Not like that’s gonna actually scare him or teach him a lesson, but still.
Remember the Thing when he froze after his pc broke bc he put kool aid in it and it was a whole thing
