I can definitely see Crystal-Tobyn becoming a valuable party member. No distracting talks about their boring deity, doesn’t ask about loot, has no gear they need others to carry, and is unlikely to hurl themselves into a canyon.
And just imagine how many gp a decent jeweler would offer for a gem that size…
Sentient crystals, basically. Like the Ents, very slow-thinking and communicating.
Now you just need some kind of mechanical body to put Tobyn’s soul-crystal in and you’ve got your self an Iron Knight.

You KNOW Cake is gonna turn Crystal-Tobyn into an arrowhead and shoot him around.
It could be interesting. Crystal-Tobyn could possess the target it strikes, which could help deal with enemies that are particularly strong in combat. And that’s just one possibility.
If I was DMing a game I would totally allow that. ?

I can see this guy becoming the next bossfight. Maybe the spirit he recovered is a strong mage he wants to siphon power from or maybe someone of importance he can now use as leverage. He never did say why he needed this spirit. If it was like a daughter or grandchild he lost he could have used that to persuade the players even more to take on this quest, as in “I’ll help you save your friend if you in the meantime save my grandchild who got taken away from me and this world way to soon!”. I’m still wondering why the lady’s soul was important enough to be chained between two pillars with a guardian demon claiming that she is his property
No godly or ungodly emissary came to claim her…so what gives?
It kind of seems unusual to chain a spirit down in what is essentially a short term purgatory instead of taking them to their final reward or punishment
