I was going to say Cyberpunk 2077, but that’s Night City… I guess Neon City is Starfield. Not sure about Hatsuei. So, maybe some kind of combined crossover universe.
This fall I joined a group playing Cyberpunk 2020 , a system I played back in college and very little since, I never found a group to play any of the updated (revised since we are past 2020 now) versions & for CP2077, I didn’t have a system that could support it when it came out and just forgot about it. I forgot how nice the math works out and how much easier and open world CP2020 is compared to a lot of other systems. For CP2020 it is more if you can dream it up & roll high enough,… Read more »
“Fantasy-Science Cyberpunk” says “Shadowrun” to me, which I love. Shadowrun was the first TTRPG I really played (briefly Star Wars RPG, but that only lasted two sessions).
While I prefer the genre of Sword & Sorcery RPGs like DnD and Pathfinder, my heart still yearns for more skill-based, classless systems like what Shadowrun uses.
Gotcha. Never played Shadowrun. Don’t know anything about it. I pretty much finished all my TTRPGs in the 90’s.
I know Paranoia was set in a crazy future world run by a demented robot where they’d pump you full of happy pills and amputate your arm to treat a papercut, so that was all I had to go on.
Key aspects of Paranoia: 1) Lying or otherwise misinform to the computer is punishment by execution (you have to live or misdirect and boot lick to survive) 2) Being a member of a secret society is punishment by execution (note all troubleshooters have a secret society) 3) Damaging or losing (or failing to accept) experimental equipment is punishment of execution (and usually several bits of ‘helpful’ equipment is doled up and to reject will result in punishment by execution) (the good part of having the video camera is the fact that you can choose where to look when and you… Read more »
I look it as Cyberpunk 2020. I don’t think it’s Paranoia simply because ‘fantasy-science cyberpunk’ isn’t Paranoia (at least Cyberpunk 2020 was science and cyberpunk and a bit of fantasy doing the netrunning….

Huh, my first thought was Shadowrun.
But apparently, Neon City Overdrive is an own game in itself.

It took me a few seconds to comprehend what I was seeing- it’s been about 1.5 years. New campaign!
I get the feeling she also keeps…souvenirs. She’s definitely above the line on the hot/crazy matrix.

Switching up the genres can really help a long time group. We also paused our sword-and-sorcery campaign twice, once for a Sci-Fi space age campaign, and once for a cyberpunk campaign. And although we always return to the sword-and-sorcery, sometimes changing it up for a year or so is a good thing.

Fantasy Cyberpunk? Sounds like Shadowrun. Just how many d6s is 2 going to get up to with his crazy min-max build?

Didn’t he just describe Shadowrun? Then again Netrunners are called Deckers in Shadowrun.

Unpopular opinion: I think Shadowrun is the better cyberpunk TTRPG. Just Saiyan.

Giving 4 access to firearms and nuclear explosives. What could go wrong
Getting Paranoia RPG vibes from the description. Wild game back in the 80’s. Very dystopian.
I was going to say Cyberpunk 2077, but that’s Night City… I guess Neon City is Starfield. Not sure about Hatsuei. So, maybe some kind of combined crossover universe.
It’s Shadowrun. You can see the back of the 5e core rulebook in the third panel.
This is Shadowrun.
Nevermind, wishful thinking. It’s Neon City Overdrive.

I couldn’t get past just slapping the fantasy species into sci-fi…. seemed to lazy for my taste.
I remember a time it would have been intriguing. Now, if I wanted dystopian, I’d just walk outside…
Yeah. I love modern and last century wargames… yet now it just feels a bit to close to home. And T2K would sound eerie….

I had to go back and see how it ended, I swore they didn’t complete the previous campaign…
Was thinking the same thing…
Has anyone ever completed a campain? That´s the stuff od Legends, man. Urban myths, don´t believe them
Woot!!!
