My wife is still playing. I lapsed back and started playing Assassin’s Creed again after Black Flag.

And I have to say Origins is fun to play

I quit Assassins Creed after 3, do not feel like going back one bit.

I burned out for good 2 weeks after Cata launched.

There was just… no appeal. I had evolved past the stale combat, the endless grind, the dehumanized quest giving system.

I saw WoW for what it really was. And then I turned away. Now I’m hooked on Black Desert Online far worse than I ever was on WoW. Damn you, ME! Don’t I ever learn!

If you grind to level 90 in WoW, you can get yourself a +30 Book of Learning for only 85$(US)!

Last time I played, it… ugh. There’s all these neat expansions and you blow through them before you’ve done diddly. And then when you get to the current one… oh look at the grind. They’ve done a lot that should make me happy… but they want me to abandon anything I might like every time they add stuff. When I was young it was “It gets good at max level”. But… it took weeks and I could be playing ANYTHING ELSE and having fun. I still love the idea of an MMO. But what I want… I want quests that… Read more »

This is my life right now. All the little emails from blizzard and the funny Dark Legacy comics… I know its a matter of time before the dragon gets me again. So… many… alts… need… levelling….

I wonder what’s the percentage of the genre’s playerbase –that is, ALL mmo players– that are current or past WoW players.

Are we up to 33% yet?

And WoW’s still churning content and running ads. Blows the mind.

Also, UO,Meridian59 and EverQuest all have servers still running too but are not aggressively top of wave

adding ofc that meridian59 is oldest still running mmorpg, and still has record of longest running pay to play mmorpg service (wow will break this in 2 years though)

So that last shot, was that an actual picture of a game store “cartoonized” or did you draw that?

Tim probably has a giant thing of premade “sets” that he makes once and then reuses. Kinda like how Dr. McNinja reuses the same White House background many, many times.

I think Warlord of Draenor broke my addiction. Wasn’t anything special and since i never have time to raid properly i used LFR for end content and we all know that’s just 25 people smashing their faces to their keyboards.

Meh. There was a very clear design shift after Mists that was all about removing player options & features (flying, scenarios, reforging, etc.) and putting major emphasis on just setting up minimum effort content with a focus on skinner boxing players. Even in Legion; they learned they can’t do minimum effort content, but the expansion was still all about RNG and grinding. AP made it hard to keep your other specs (never mind other characters) going. And then there were the legendaries… And now we’re just doing Garrosh 2.0? The writing has always been a pretty weak element of WoW;… Read more »

What’s the point of having super powers, if you can’t _occasionally_ use them for evil? XD

played up to level 60 for a blood elf rogue, was trying to solo through the Outlands in a PVP server my friend convinced me to start in, my friends didn’t play it when i did and quickly out leveled me so I was playing alone.. no one wanted to go with me in raids because I didn’t have the gear needed.. no one wanted to help me get the gear i needed to get the gear I needed to do raids.

I called it quits and never looked back.

Kicked the habbit after cata. I played through cata to at least kill deathwing but once that was done I let the subscription lapse and have not been back. Only once been tempted due to a scroll of resurection or whatever the free month promo they send out periodicly but at the time couldnt find my old authenticator so didnt bother. had one or two more come in since and while i know where the authenticator is now I’m just not intrested anymore. Wow was good times but all good things come to an end.

Fortunately, (or UNfortunately, dpending on how you look at it), I can no longer play WoW at all anymore, even if I wanted to, because they completely disabled its functionality (indeed the functionality of ALL Bnet games) on Windows XP.

Yes, I know I should have long since upgraded, but for various reason, I can’t.

Not sure if that’s actually an upgrade, giving up XP for, say, 8
Or even 10

Giving up XP for 10 is definetely an upgrade.
In terms of playing WoW on the other hand…
XP might be better than running Windows 10.
After all, the only winning move is not to play.

Afraid WoW may have finally lost me. Its not just this expansion. I think after over a decade of World of Warcraft I’m just burnt out on the title as a whole finally.
