It’s always the extremest that “decide” that their god wants them to kill non-believers. It’s those that convince the rest of them to join in a “holy” war on others, when in fact most religions preach the exact opposite. Or they use the defense gambit, “They are non-believers, so they must want to destroy us!” and so on.

Good question. I have to assume it is the galactic equivalent of an hour, but whatever their version of an hour is. What’s really interesting about the series is that humanity is NOT the predominant race. I genuinely love it. Also with the sheer number of alien races we’ve seen so far.
