This could explain some of his frustration at not having a Starcaster yet, assuming their culture also traditionally favors the elder sibling.
It’d be bad enough to miss out because they simply didn’t have a second Starcaster after giving one to the elder brother. But if he was actively passed by, that has to sting extra.
Also adds extra weight to the ‘that’s why Father picked me’ line his brother gave him.
I have this theory that the younger brother is a little less evil than the rest of his family. At the very least, he doesn’t seem to love bloodshed for its own sake. That’s probably WHY dad insisted he don the starcaster- he saw a glimmer of a conscience in his youngest child, and found it to be offensive, even threatening. To quash that nascent morality, he put him into a position where he would commit mass murder. Only his oldest child takes after dad a little too well in the bloodlust department. That kid is DEFINITELY going to covet… Read more »
Alternatively, their father understood its not just about bloodlust and cruelty. You need to have logistics and strategy so you don’t over extend your fleet and get decimated as a result.
So the younger brother, being more tactically minded, was given the starcaster to lead the army and prosecute the war. As giving the older brother that power would have risked destroying everything their Empire has worked for so far.
There is also the possibility of civil war. Considering this guys personality, I could see him purging his own people in an effort to solidify his power.
Even better: The starcaster is still trying to heal those bits not realizing they’re from a different person entirely, and so slowly blue flesh grows out from under the starcaster that he has to peel away…

It would be funny, if after all this time and his actions, the next panel is just a:
best case scenario for the federation is that he totals the ship they are on. and is left floating in space with the caster keeping him in a state of agony.
Best case scenario would be if he actually dies, and the Federation can just retrieve the starcaster. (if they could find it)
Yeah, that alien woman (forgot her name) can use the Starcaster to protect her from space and nod need a suit, but it’s not something done automatically, Cort needed a suit, and so did the other Dranglaex prince, I think.

And that’s how they lost the rest of the fleet…or maybe the prince is gonna detonated his ship, being throw to the space while going FTL and end lost in some random planet
I imagine it would cause the permanent loss of that Starcaster as well since it would be traveling around faster than the speed of light until it hits something, which might destroy it.

Kelias, upon putting on the Starcaster:
-OH MY GOD, I can support the comic on PATREON!
Ya know if Tim were to make a non-canon one off comic of this with say his eyes showing Patreon or him shouting it or something i’d probably do what i could to drop a buck or three

What a complete prat
Almost every time he has screen time in the comic, he convinces us more and more that his father had the right idea in passing him over for his bro
At least he’s brave and arrogant enough to make a decent villain
Curiously, I feel like this could also be something of a self fulfilling prophecy, i.e. if you keep telling a kid that he sucks and can’t measure up to his brother, then it will no wonder when he grows up to be spiteful and vicious.
Why did half the fleet and a star disappear? Enough unbridled joy that it poked Slaneesh in the kidney.

morgan freeman voice over: it was this moment, Kelias knew, he made a very big mistake. for not only did the starcaster overwhelm him with cosmic energy, it also unfortunately revealed what lay beyond the mystical fourth wall. will his mind withstand the truth that he is is merely a pawn in a comic series? and will it recover from seeing the internet search history of random fans, which included a video of a man named deadpool twerking in nothing but a mask and a thong? only time, and the creator of this comic will know.
I mean, deadpools regeneration would be pretty useful with a starcaster.

No chance it rejects him or this goes badly for him and his ship, huh?

Some part of me has been expecting someone to eventually put two of these things on and like ascend to godhood or something. Maybe even four, with two on the shins or something. Kinda thought this would lead to that. I mean, it still could, I guess, if his brother’s willing to cut his arm off for it.
My personal opinion? It would probably be like asking 9 women to birth a child in a month. The Starcasters can draw on the power a star. That is an absurd amount of energy. Shoddycast once did a video on Fallout stimpacks. The amount of energy to heal is ludicrous. Compared to the power of a star? Insignificant. One Starcaster has enough power to kill the wielder. It has enough power to heal mortal wounds. It certainly doesn’t need more energy, and from what I assume of these things are advanced enough to heal a Starcaster wielder as fast as… Read more »

Interesting, just joined the patrion so now I get to be impatient about a different issue… Lot of CAD one shots to catch up on though.

He has seen the Black Mountain and the Space Koala…
Least Cort has a head-start on him. It’ll be interesting if they both meet.
For some reason I thought he’s the younger brother.
Same, they seemed to have that dynamic.
This could explain some of his frustration at not having a Starcaster yet, assuming their culture also traditionally favors the elder sibling.

Maybe older brother – primogeniture – empire heir, can’t risk him to die for using the starcaster or alike 🤷

That would be a really interesting plot twist.
The bonding actually went fine.
He’s simply squicked out because he just discovered they hadn’t properly cleaned off all of the previous wielders’ bits.
And now those bits are forever trapped there, for the rest of his life.
Like being cursed with wet socks that will never dry.
Even better: The starcaster is still trying to heal those bits not realizing they’re from a different person entirely, and so slowly blue flesh grows out from under the starcaster that he has to peel away…

I’d hope for some disintegration 🙂

Now that’s a hell of an orgasm.
Stargasm.
No, that would have caused a hole in the side of the fleet.
Maybe it did, we just didn’t see it yet.

Lol ‘Starpool’. If he Did come to this universe, the regeneration he has would perk up interest.
