Into this the call for our boy to keep his team is going to arrive.

Will they kinda see his point?

Well,

That’s one way the narrative can stop the Dranglaex being wiped out after a space battle where they really did lose too many ships for comfort

Yes, we’ve seen examples of Federation corruption before but that brief report is trying to state that the corruption is endemic and would be threatening the survival of the Federation even without the Dranglaex

To be fair, that’s not exactly new information. It’s been a consistent theme that the Federation is not running smoothly.

But it’s really not that the Dranglaex fell behind from that battle. The loss of ships just makes it more of a trade, rather than the crushing victory seizing the Starcaster might’ve been.

Wonder where deserters would run to. Sure, a galaxy is a vast place and it might take the Dranglaex centuries to conquer it, though I doubt it, feels like they believe they can do it in a decade once the Federation has crumbled, but at some point you gotta face the guns and bombs from the Dranglaex empire. But yeah, sure looks like the Federation is in deep shit. 3 starcasters would have been awesome but now they need to treat this “2nd” Starcaster they got like a propaganda win or else the federation might actually break apart before the… Read more »

Just a question, why does the Federation let Cort keep his starcaster? Cort’s loyalty is obviously extremely questionable due to his history and only Quel’oran is defending him. Even then, there are plenty of people higher-up that distrust Cort, so why not transfer the starcaster to someone else and give Cort a mechanical arm or something?

Pretty sure it was mentioned that stacaster removal will inevitably kill the host. So prostetic arm is not an option.
Still I can’t answer why don’t take it anyway… Maybe the Federation is considered a good guy, and therefore will try not to kill anyone unless there is no other way?

I am sure others will be able to give better answers, but in my opinion, it’s because the Starcasters seem to require a lengthy adjustment period after slapping them on, and there may be certain consequences to shifting ownership that we are not yet privy to. The Federation seems pressed for time, enough so that even the inefficiency of leaving the Starcaster attached to Cort is more immediately useful, rather than have another take it from him, and require the adjustment period… But I am just guessing.

I can give a better answer, but unfortunately, I can’t say. Glad I caught myself before I said it. 😅

Cort’s cooperating (for now), has the backing of one of the few horonable marshals (Quel’Oran), and anyone else might be corrupt too. When Cort was hiding, he was running from EVERYONE, not just the Federation. He didn’t fire on them way back in issue 2, and even brought in an Odrossian (well, what’s left of her). If they look at his encounters he’s only used nonlethal force on the ‘good’ guys. Also cutting off peoples’ arms with at best circunstantial evidence is the kind of dictatorial stuff the evil space fascist Draglaex would do (actually even they didn’t do it… Read more »

Ethics? Also practical concerns. Forcefully cutting off people’s limbs is a pretty nasty thing, that’s more something for an Evil Empire to do. Offering a good prosthetic really doesn’t change that, even it would actually be as good as the real thing. (Which is unlikely). More practically speaking, even if they can do it, Cort could easily wreck a lot of stuff before they subdue him. Not ideal with a war going on. And they’ve only had Cort join for a few hours (days now?), and he’s been cooperative since. Dismembering your Starcaster wielders is also a good way to… Read more »

One THIRD??? I mean… I’m glad to hear that their cops at least try to arrest other cops who are dirty, but that’s a LOT.

“The Xhelgos was dead stick before the fight began.”

Dead “stick?” Is that a typo, or some slang from this galaxy?

“dead stick” is slang from our galaxy. Basically refers to when a flying vessel (or in this case a space vessel) has no power/dead engines.
