Pretty smart. Makes it much harder for moles and potential traitors to know their location like it happened with the Starcaster on the Xelghos.

See, I love coming here and reading starcaste every day or update day. I don’t want this paywalled. It will make me very sad. Plus pay walling it, means I can’t read it here.
Me too, but I understand his reasons. Unfortunately the current conversion rates in my country makes even 1 dollar a bit expensive. Let’s hope the new ad system works.
If I can give a different perspective: I think the lowest tier is about 14,- a year? It is peanuts. Consider how much you’re willing to pay for your phone per month, from the phone itself to it’s subscription. Or if you go out a night. I do not know where you live, but a single meal, or 3 to 4 drinks at a bar and I have payed more than the subscription. Compare the joy. One year of comics vs refusing 3 drinks in a night out with your friends. Not to mention that if you buy comic books… Read more »
It’s literally not paywalled because you’re reading it for free.
If your demand is that you should be able to read things for free whenever people create them without any compensation whatsoever then pls go ahead and love yourself and get ur sense of entitlement in check.
Pretty harsh for someone who doesn’t give the sense of understanding what Dramabear was talking about; Tim has said in the “Meanwhile: Changes On The Horizon” link on the top right of every page (and here: https://cad-comic.com/changes-on-the-horizon/) that one option he is considering is reducing free updates from 3 to 2 per week, and making Starcaster Patreon-only. DB isn’t asking that Tim not get paid; just hoping that other revenue models allow Starcaster to continue to trickle out to those who cannot afford to pay for it directly, whatever the reason.
Nah, DB is literally hoping for freebies and not ever paying for things. And the reason he thinks he should have access to free things is because otherwise he would be sad.
And looking at the downvotes it’s clear Tim has a huge pool of freeriders getting their feel feels hurt.
Seeing that this is comic book format, I’d gladly pay $1/month for the equivalent of a couple or three comic books if this was removed from here. Tim has to make a living so..
I see it the exact opposite way. He has given me free entertainment for years with intriguing storylines & fantastic worlds. Given how often I’ve paid into MMOs for such entertainment, he absolutely deserves my entertainment dollar for all he continues to give.

Interesting choice. Protects both their movements and expands the spectrum of any ordered actions. Why do I get a uneasy feeling that cort will run across a distasteful order and abandon the federation again.

How many starcaster are out there? I was u der the impression that there was only 1 at first and then 2 max. Now there running around a lot.
I believe there are 5 known. Two in the hands of the Federation (Cort and the lady), two in the hands of the Drang’s (the two princes), and one in the hands of some other neutral empire.
there are 4. Initially it was believed the Draanglex had two and the Galactic Allied Government had 2, but one of the Draanglex’s Starcasters was never actually found- that’s why they were interrogating Nyrah for its location. Cort’s wearing it now, but one of the Allied Government’s Starcasters was just stolen last chapter, so it’s still 2 with the Draang, 2 with the GAG.
Since before the story started:
Lance Major La’ni (Federation)
Drangalex King (Drangalex) –> Drangalex Prince-Whose-Name-I-Can’t-Remember (Drangalex)
Since the story started:
Nyrah’s brother (Odrossian) –> Cort (Federation)
Major Danton (Federation) –> Other Drangalex Prince-Whose-Name-I-Can’t-Remember (Drangalex)
So, 2 in the hands of the Federation, 2 in the hands of the Drangalex.
The answer is six
One was with Nyrah’s Brother Dristim, then the Dranglaex claimed to have it whilst torturing Nyrah to find it, and now Cort has it.
One is with Vectanix.
One is with La’ni.
One was with Danton, then the Dranglaex spy killed him, and now Kelias has it.
The thing is that Speck could be wrong about the number as well. The way he states it there are 6 well known in this galaxy. They know little of other galaxies that might have more. Not to mention that the Odrossian genocide is a good reminder why some smaller powers do not want it widely known they have one. There could be many more even within this galaxy, secret to the wider population, but known or suspected by higher ups from the Federation or the like. It would make sense that there are more in other galaxies at least.… Read more »

Let’s call them Special Tactics and Reconnaissance – or short STAR, because who’d make am Mass Effect joke here.
On the one hand, the Federation putting the Starcasters on different vessels would make sense (too many eggs in one basket). On the other hand, Cort *needs* La’ni to teach him, because all Nyrah knows is basic knowledge and she’s already taught him everything she knows. For the dramatic aspect, I hope La’ni stays on the Aphelion for awhile. Can you imagine the clash between Nyrah and La’ni? Both of them have a matryrdom complex. I would expect Nyrah to win because she has the trump card of not having a body or race anymore. However, her matrydom complex has… Read more »
Droma isn’t saying he’s going to split them up (though that’s certainly an option.) If anything, making them covert and “offbooks” would make it safer to have them continue to train together, as it would be easier to control the information of their location.

I don’t know if this Vicen is the good guy or the mole inside the Federation that may use this ‘off the books’ plan to get the rest of the Starcasters ambushed.
Ah, a fellow non-native english speaker, I presume? (it’s “devil’s advocate”, not “advocate of the devil”).
There’s no one higher that this triumvirate in the executive branch. Not sure if it was ever mentioned if the comic universe Federation even has a separation of power into executive, legislative and judicial branchees. Either way, if vicen Droma or whatever his name had Dranglaex interests in mind, there’s so much more harm to the Federation that he can do than this.

Quick question. As someone considering pledging, if I want to vote on story decisions, do I need to pledging through the Starter Chronicles link or can the general CAD pledgers also vote?
The Starcaster Patreon gets the pages as they are made and gets to vote on story choice. They will always be 2 issues ahead of Starcaster posted anywhere else.
So if you want to vote/have the latest pages, you’d sign up for the Starcaster Patreon.

THE last, if I’m not mistaken.
