It’s funny how all encompassing that love hate relationships with dialup was, and how completely void it is now. Though I guess cell signal evokes similar kinds of emotions…

My first modem was 300 baud, and I used it with my capital-letters-only Apple ][+ (64K of memory!). I literally could read text faster than it came in over the phone line. By the time I got to 14.4K, I was pretty happy, and after that, things were pretty much as fast as I even wanted. It still boggles my mind how fast video loads these days.
It really was like that, lol. I remember using Limewire and Kazaa over dial-up to download music. One song would take like 30 minutes if I was lucky or 5 hours or 3 days…Great times.
