I don’t think this comment deserves the negativity it’s getting. People can vote how they want and feel how they feel, but ZK Has pretended to be affected emotionally just to turn it into snark before.
NGL, there’s a chance that’s the case. Eyes are the window to the soul, after all. Every time Zeke felt differently about humans, their eyes would change color.
As much as I hate to even consider the idea, Zeke’s eyes are still red.
I can recall several instances where I still felt anger for a while after someone hit me with a one-liner that shook me to the core. People need time to process someone else’s words, especially in states of heightened emotion. *IF* Tim is going in the direction that Ethan is getting through to ZK, then I think it makes sense to keep their eyes red for the panel on this page, and then have the eye color change to something softer on the following pages. That’s how I’d do it at least, but I’m nowhere near Tim in terms of… Read more »

The FEELS, man! Tim is seriously weaponising the FEELS.
This was so well done! I didn’t feel anything with ethan’s lines, which I don’t think I had to but ZK’s eyes??? holy crap their eyes hit me HARD.

ZK’s arm implement reminds me of a scene of old Zeke’s where Lucas’ girlfriend (and fellow thug) was trying to rob his house. Zeke’s arm got destroyed in the process.
Zeke’s eyes in the last panel..looks like Ethan might be getting through to him. Though his eyes are still red in color – Hopefully Zeke’s not about to fake a change of heart, only to go “just kidding” like he has in the past. Only the next page on Monday will tell..
Could be their eyes are red from the rage they’re still filled with, but this is making them doubt. I hope it’s enough… All it takes is a little doubt to prevent such a permanent act as murder.
Or contemplative, such as the Kantian philosophy of pants-stealing from a while back. That seed was probably planted in Zeke’s mind (or circuitry/software, if you’d rather see it that way) and in a weird way Scott’s actions would probably make Zeke MORE contemplate what kind of world would it be if you just killed (or terminated, for his imagined legion of ZK-bots) everyone who was wrong or inconvenient or troublesome at all. If Zeke is better than Scott, as our favorite robot surmises (along with the rest of humanity), then killing the relatively smart-looking flesh sculpture wouldn’t be much of… Read more »

OK, I feel a little bit better about Scott’s survival chances compared to the last few comics. A little..
To the best of Zeke’s knowledge, Ethan is still invincible and will respawn, so Zeke may think that those promises don’t carry much weight. I think it can go two ways: Scott interrupts Ethan and says he can’t let Ethan die because they don’t know if his powers still work. Zeke decides to let Ethan and Scott live but just for a bit of release and fun, he’ll kill Ethan, expecting him to respawn. These two in any order. Zeke might kill Ethan before Scott has a chance to interrupt and Scott might scream out in terror that death could… Read more »
I’m betting on Scott trying to kill Zeke, and Ethan intercepting the blow and dying, with an OH MY GOD HE’S REALLY DEAD scream of doom.
Possibly a delay on the respawn feature, too, or even make him respawn back before he got the injection, over on that building, so they think he’s really gone. His power might consider that his last truly “healthy” state, because of whatever the injection did.

It looks to me that Zeke doesn’t want to kill. I get that there is some artistic liberty, but to me Zeke was already waiting on the last comic for Ethan. Ethan can’t hit a robot, judo throw and walk in front of Zeke before Zeke can fire. This commitment has already weakened his tenuous resolve to kill Scott. They are already looking a bit defeated, the tension all out of them, on the first panel. Zeke just needed a small push to that finish line. If they really wanted to hurt, they would have done so without conversation first.… Read more »

Ethan isn’t just trying to save Scott here. As far as we know, ZK is never actually killed anyone.
The choice ZK makes here we’ll have long reaching consequences for ZK’s future, their status in the world, and how they see themself.
If ZK chooses to kill, even if they later repent, that will stay with them forever.

Would’ve been neat if Tim made all or the last part of the comic a gif, and had Zeke’s eyes briefly flicker magenta every 10 seconds or so just to mess with us.

Sorry – this is the cliffhanger – next page in 3 months or so 😉 {I hope not}
Nah, the cliffhanger is after the next page, where Zeke shoots Ethan and we don’t know whether he respawns or not.

Yeah but ZK knows it will hurt, a lot. To be willing to go through that much pain is still worth something.

That is a possibility that I have no thought about. What if now Ethan can still revive but left a body behind?
If so, organ and blood donations will be at an all-time high!
