Elf

So this weekend was rather interesting. It started out pretty shitty, and got progressively better.

Late Thursday night I started to get a headache. It was no big deal, I get them every now and then. I finished up Friday’s comic and went to bed early.

On Friday morning, I woke up with the headache. I was in no mood for that, and I figured I had slept wrong or something, and went back to sleep. I woke up a few hours later, and I still had the headache. So at this point I decided that it was because I was in bed, and I needed to get up and move around. A couple hours of that and the headache still hadn’t dissipated. This went on all day, until it finally subsided late Friday evening, making it an awful 24-hour headache. All I managed to get done work-wise was Saturday’s comic.

Saturday was better. I managed to get a lot of work done and felt pretty good. I even actually went and downloaded and re-installed America’s Army. I had been itching to play it again ever since I had been writing commentary for the book, and commenting on the AA strips got me thinking about the game. All in all a pretty good day.

Sunday I worked some more, but I did spend the entire morning with a little R&R. And my idea of relaxing is sitting down to work on some art that’s not related to work in any way. Just drawing some art for the sake of practicing. I don’t get to do that very often lately. I thought I’d show you what my Sunday morning produced, since it wasn’t spent working on something CAD-related. Click on the image for a larger version.

Sunday night I also started printing labels for book shipping. The number of pre-orders I’ve got to ship is staggering. This is why I’m shutting down pre-ordering at some point today, because the work load I already have is overwhelming. I don’t know when today I’m stopping pre-ordering, but it could be any minute, so don’t procrastinate.

Also, I will be shipping in the order received. Meaning the very first order will be in the first batch shipped, and the very last order will be in the last batch shipped. This is because it’s probably going to take me a while to get all of these in the mail. Even if I get them all signed and packaged in a day, I can’t walk into the post office with thousands of packages and say “Here, have a blast”.

I am contacting the post office about possible bulk shipping options though.

Also, my next convention this year, as many of you know, is ConnectiCon in Connecticut. This year they’re holding a “web comic tournament” kind of thing. Basically each web comic artist in attendance assembles a team of himself and five other members to compete in events over the course of the three day convention, for a trophy, title, and free tickets to attend the following year to defend their title.

Now, most of these events are video games. I hope you’re laughing maniacally as much as I am right now.

Sometime in the near future, when I feel I’m ready to deal with the veritable deluge of applications I’ll receive, I’m going to start recruiting for the CAD team. Until then, if you’re planning on attending ConnectiCon for all three days, and you consider yourself an excellent gamer at any of the following: Halo, Super Smash Bros Melee, Mario Kart DD, DDR, UT2K4, Soul Calibur 2 (PS2)or Crimson Skies, start considering applying to play alongside me in on a CAD team in a gaming tournament.

One or two of the spots may already be filled. I might invite my best friend to join, if he’s going to be there, and there is a professional Halo player from the west coast that is willing to fly out for the event. But that still leaves a few slots open, so keep an eye out for when I begin recruiting.
