Generosity Overload

February 20, 2009 by Tim

Okay, today is it. If by the end of the day you are not registered and paid for Digital Overload 2009, you’re out of luck. We don’t take payment for badges at the door (apart from Spectator badges, but you don’t get to game with those), so it’s now or never. Well, not never… you’ll get another shot in 2010.

We’re starting a new charity initiative with Digital Overload this year, which we’re calling Generosity Overload. For 2009 we’ve chosen to support our troops still overseas, and will be collecting items that they need/want, and we’re excited to announce that ThinkGeek has signed on to participate. In particular we will be sending items to Ted Arnold and SrA Janna P. Wiseman who have signed up on behalf of their units. We’re asking attendees to contribute any of the following items:

  • Hygiene products of all kinds
  • Bug spray
  • Extra socks
  • Blankets
  • Dried Snacks (like trail mix)
  • DVDs
  • Sheets for Twin beds
  • Video or Board Games
  • Headsets with microphones (so the soldiers can call home)
  • CD-Rs and CD-RWs
  • Energy Drinks (or drink mixes)
  • Over-the-counter cold meds (Vicks Sinex would be great) and multi-vitamins
  • Anything anti-bacterial
  • Easy-Mac,  Pringles, Ritz crackers and Cheese spread
  • Cards and letters
  • Pre-prepared foods

We ask that you bring your contribution with you to the event, and that all food and personal items be new, and unopened in their original packaging. Second-hand DVDs and Video Games should be fine. Any attendee that contributes an item will receive a raffle ticket for a prize drawing during the event.
