Rockin’ out

March 29, 2006 by Tim

I’m feeling a little bit better today. The congestion is subsiding. Thanks for the well wishes!

I think by now I’ve played just about enough Oblivion to faithfully report on the game, and my review for that will be up a bit later.

The folks at Red Octane (the makers of Guitar Hero), have mentioned that they have more “music products” in development, and he wasn’t talking about the Guitar Hero sequels (if you haven’t heard, they’ll be doing additional releases with more songs, and apparently even ‘genre’ releases. Country Rock, Metal, etc). No more details were released, but I’m betting on Flute Hero. Or Loser Who Stood In The Back With The Triangle Hero.

But seriously, with Karaoke Revolution, that drum game, Guitar Hero… I’m just waiting for a company to combine all of these peripherals into a single game that lets a group of friends, with no musical talent whatsoever, get together and use the hand-eye coordination that years of video gaming has taught them to rock out. If they could fit all of those scrolling bars onto one screen, that would make for some party mayhem.

Fuck Dance Dance Revolution though. That shit isn’t invited.

I mentioned (last week, I think?) that I was never really wrapped up in any of the Far Cry hype, but I will admit, this looks gorgeous. The framerate is pretty bad in that video, but we’ll see what they can do with it. I imagine it’s going to take a hog of a machine to run. At the end of the video it instructed me to play it at E3 2006. Trust me, I plan on it.
