The last muffin

Ahh, as you might have guessed from the message above, the domain transfer is underway. The site is up and running on the new server, and I’ve initated the domain swap. For those of you unfamiliar with how it works, essentially there are a bunch of servers all over the place, and now one by one they have to say “What? Oh… the domain doesn’t point to that server any more? It points to this one? Well… alright then.”, which means some people will switch over faster than others. Hence the handy little message up top.

The swap shouldn’t take more than a few days, so I’m going to update both servers simultaneously for a few days, so that nobody misses out on anything.

For the most part, the move has gone fairly well. We did hit one slight snag in the form of an email problem over the weekend. For some of Saturday and practically all of Sunday, I wasn’t receiving mail from the new server. So if you emailed me, and I didn’t respond, please feel free to email me again. Just to be safe.

Let’s see… what else. Ahh, current projects. Let me tell you how I’ve been spending my time as of late. Aside from drawing the regular strip, I’m back in full gear working on the collection book. Unfortunately I’ve hit a minor snag in the line, that does in fact threaten to hold up production quite severely. It’s a snag a little bit further down the line, and I’m not even at that point yet. I’ll go into more detail about it when the time comes. For now, I’ve got plenty of work to do on the book before I even have to worry about this problem.

Also, I’m working on some other neat stuff for the store. I was packaging orders last night, and packaged the very last Applied Education poster. This was the very first CAD merchandise I ever had made. It was almost exactly a year ago that I have them printed.

I am not going to be reordering. The poster’s artwork is outdated. Done in the old style. If you have one of these posters, you now own a piece of CAD history. They are not being reprinted.

Instead, I’ve already begin preliminary sketches on a new poster. It’s going to be a full cast type poster, with as much detail as I can fit into it. And no more of this 11×17 mini-poster stuff. I’m stepping up to 18×24, baby.

Also, as I mentioned a couple of weeks ago, the CAD character shirts are being discontinued. They also feature old artwork, and are coming up on their one year anniversary. It’s time to retire them, and come up with some new stuff, so I’m working on new character shirts as well. I’ll probably stick to what works, and stay with a simple character image on the front, with a quote on the back.

I don’t have an ETA for any of this stuff, unfortunately. I’m only one cartoonist, and I’m working as hard as I can. I’ll be sure to keep you updated on progress though.

Also, I’m combining April and May for the CAD Exclusives!, so don’t fret if you donated in April and haven’t received anything yet. I’ve just gotten a little bit behind, that’s all.

Concerning the CAD LAN/Gathering thing, I have had a lot of people offering to help, which is great. I’m going to call a few hotels this week to see about their function spaces.
