The rest of the tournaments!

Here we go, it’s Friday, and that means I can let you in on the rest of the official tournaments we have planned for Digital Overload 2010! While these are the last of the scheduled and officially run tournaments, they are by no means the last of the events that will take place at DO2010!

On top of all of the prize-giveaways and raffles, each year there are ton of attendee-organized tournaments that crop up for a variety of games, both classic and new!

Command & Conquer 3: Kane’s Wrath, 1v1

Maximum Participants: 32 players

Matches will consist of 3 rounds, each round played in a different tournament map. Best two out of three advances up the bracket.

Maps:

  • Round One- Tournament Decision
  • Round Two- Tournament Rift
  • Round Three- Tournament Arena

Bioshock 2 Team ADAM Grab, 4v4

Maximum Participants: 16 Teams

Each match will consist of three rounds of Team ADAM Grab on random maps. All player characters will be set to default unlocks.

Super Smash Bros Brawl, 2v2

Maximum Participants: 32 Teams

Single Elimination. Best of Three rounds advances. Semi-Finals and Finals are Best of Five.

  • Double Blind character pick will be enforced if either team requests it.

First stage will be randomly chosen from the following Neutral Stages.

  • Yoshi’s Island

Losing team chooses the next stage from Neutral or Counter Pick stages.

Warmachine/Hordes Weekend Brawl

Friday: Eternal War

  • Open Gaming with a twist. Games won will count towards a player’s faction. And the end of the day, the faction with the most points wins. Prizes for players on the winning faction.

Saturday:  50pt Steamroller Tournament

Sunday: 35pt Mangled Metal Tournament

 

Miniature Painting Competition

Attendees are invited to submit their fully painted 28mm miniatures in a variety of categories for trophies and prizes.

  • Single Figure- Any single character or model.

  • Unit- Models in military ranks or groups that constitute a unit, squad, team of individuals, or adventure group. Units must include unifying base, board, or movement tray.

  • Machines of War – Any tanks, vehicles or other large mobile piece of weaponry.

Submissions will be judged on both technical quality (the assembly and painting of the miniature) and artistic quality (color choices, detail work, etc).

Project: Assassination

Maximum Participants: 100 players

Returning for the third year in a row, Project: Assassination is an event-wide assassination game that takes place all weekend throughout the convention hall.

Players are given life cards with represent their participation in the game and current number of lives, and foam daggers. They are tasked with stealthily sneaking up on opponents while remaining ever vigilant to avoid getting assassinated themselves. The assassin at the end of the weekend that is both still alive, and has the most kills, is declared with winner.

Small entry fee required to cover the cost of game materials.
