Yeah, I can totally see regular cops in e.g. Marvel New York knowing about Spiderman, and appreciating the help, while being pretty pissed when having to clean up a Deadpool murder party.

Its why I like the scene in the Avengers between Captain America and the NYPD guys so much. The initial scepticism, then once Cap shows his competence how quickly the cops take his ideas seriously.

Pajuka

Exactly. Especially with something like a Deadpool murder party where now you have to treat the area like a crime scene, figure out who died to who (sure Deadpool probably did most of it, but you got to make sure no one snuck a body into that mess to try to hide an unrelated murder), contact next of kin, and all the other tasks cops have to do with a dead body times however many corpses were left at the scene. And that’s before you consider possible collateral damage – like stray bullets hitting an innocent bystanders, or the explosive… Read more »

Punisher would be more apt.

Punisher tends to go after criminals, so while methods can be questioned, who really sheds a trar to his targets. Now Deadpool is a merc and while usually collateral is low, he s still willing to take on pretty much any paying job. Unkess we talk about the Deadpool that went nuts and wiped out his entire universe before going after other universes and literature heroes. I think tha one just wanted hus existance to end.

This comment absolutely makes me want to see more of Deathblood’s home life. Is he just someone with no family who constantly takes crap from his boss? Would simply a bit of french toast or a hug or something help him have more context for the world?

Or does he have a loving family at home who are just sick of hearing Dad talk about his crazy violent theories on life?

If you walk past a house and hear domestic abuse going on but the only way you can intervene is breaking and entering, that’d be a crime despite the good intentions

Just to play Devil’s advocate here. But as an unlicensed superhero, isn’t pretty much everything he does in costume count as breaking the law.

I think in one of the earlir stories they tpuch on the grayscake they operate at. Vigilantisim in itself is not illiegal and I think both registered and unregistered operate under same set of laws that allow for their operations. But by being registered they are a known actor and be wielded effectively and held responsible for their actions, professional vs hobbyist.

Why do I get the feeling Ben is about to label Ethan’s character as a Deathblood level psycho, based on Troll conjecture?

Austin Mills

I think he’s safe from that accusation, seeing as Ben’s googled Lucas’ hero persona, who regularly goes around with Ethan. If he didn’t think Ethan was safe, he wouldn’t think Lucas was safe either.

It probably does mean Ben can figure out that Ethan’s a super, too. They work together (and I’m sure Lucas has talked about Ethan), and probably doesn’t take much to match physical descriptions.

I’m relatively sure that Ben is smart enough to know that Lucas would not work with a “Deathblood level psycho”.

Especially since one of Ethan’s forays into being a superhero put him on the receiving end of a Deathblood rampage trying to protect people from the psycho, although whether or not that’s common knowledge, I couldn’t say.

So, that’s gotten me curious.

Do vigilantes/supers get fanfic or fanart done about them? Did Ben come across people creating dreamy steamy stuff about the mysterious spandex arrow-creating guy that saved them?

This strip made me wonder, are there supers working in other jobs, where their powers would be suitable for helping people?
Not a superhero series, but f.ex. in Mercy Thompson books, where werewolves “came out” and humans are aware of their existence, there’s a werewolf firefighter. She doesn’t shapeshift at work, but is more capable than regular humans even when human shaped, it probably helps.

The Night Watch series, part of Terry Pratchett’s Discworld, has a *very* inclusive city watch. Men, women, dwarves, trolls, werewolves, gnomes, golems, they’ve even got an Igor.

Sergeant Angua, one of the werewolves, is of immense help tracking criminals, for example. The golems are great when something catches fire or when the bad guys have crossbows. Etc.

GNU Sir Terry

I didn’t think about it at the time, mostly because I meant in the Analog and D-Pad’s verse (even though I used Mercy Thompson series as a sort of example).

Oh shit. Ben’s totally gonna get killed in the line of duty.

Lucas has found someone who cares for him, who knows the truth about both his lives, and accepts and supports them both. So of course he’ll lose that person in the worst way possible, and end up going off the deep end.

Sure, he’s not a Deathblood-level psychopath NOW…

Where do people get the idea that this guy is Deathblood? Deathblood has a physique that puts this guy to shame, and I highly doubt that someone as psychotic as he is would have a job like law enforcement. He’d never pass the psych evals.

Hey, just stating my POV. Over the years you’ve complained a few times about freeloaders, but anyone stupid enough to be a bootlicker doesn’t deserve to survive in the world.

Edit: Yeah… That’s definitely across the line but I’m not gonna apologize. Bootlicking filth like you Tim are the problem in society.

He is still alive, despite (probably) going against unfavorable odds repeatedly (a single guy against criminal gangs etc.), so I think he might have some powers helping his survival (since he uses weapons for killing, he probably doesn’t have any offensive powers).
That, or he is really good at what he does (and what he does isn’t very nice).
