Busted knees

I gave the Spider-Man: Friend or Foe demo on XBL a whirl the other day. As it’s clearly aimed at a younger audience, I can’t knock it for being too simple, but I guess I was just hoping for a little more than there was. Like maybe two buttons to mash, for some more varied combos. It’s a shame, too, because the game is pretty solid otherwise. It certainly feels like Spider-Man, I love the cartoony style, and it’s got co-op.

I think I’m starting to get a little bit excited about Halo 3 next week. Some of you may recall I just could not get hyped up over the game. I have no doubt that when it arrives I’ll enjoy it, just for some reason I can’t work myself into a frenzy of anticipation. I never played the beta that took place over the summer, and I usually just skim over any news or updates about the game. Certain things did catch my eye at points though, such as “4-Player Co-op”.

I never played Halo 2’s single player campaign, and I’ve really never given a rat’s ass about the Halo storyline in general, but co-op games are one of my vices. And so for that alone Halo 3 presents something to enjoy. And the Create-A-Spartan looked pretty neat too, so maybe I’ll take the game online, in the same manner I play COD4: with the headset plugged in and lying on the table next to me. Though I’ve been told Halo 3 will allow you to mute idiots on a case-by-case basis, that seems like far too much work.

I’ll tell you though, any fledgling excitement I’m working up over Halo 3 is dwarfed by my excitement for the season premiere of Heroes next week. I’m flying through the HD season one set this week to refresh.

And if Toby doesn’t make it up this weekend to finally play Bioshock through, I’ve got a baseball bat here that would love to get acquainted with his kneecaps…
