Honestly, I find this hard to believe. The Weebmaster said so, yes, but let’s consider other evidence.
Scott noted that none of the projectiles hit any of Lucas’ arteries. Zeke has mentioned that he can scan vitals in a live human. Considering a robot’s inhuman accuracy and the fact that he knows where to strike, I find it hard to believe that Zeke missed on accident.
It seems more likely that he deliberately aimed for non-lethal zones. It’s not impossible that he simply missed, but unlikely.
Zeke, by his own admission, admitting he was playing with his food. Meaning, he underestimated Lucas and was not fighting seriously. Probably something he’ll rectify the next time they fight. But for the time being, it’s more believable he was after a slow death from the start, not an efficient one.
The “playing with my food” line might have simply been a lie meant to convince Weebmaster that Lucas’s escape was unintended. It’s likely that he was watching the proceedings remotely
What’s so unlikely about him missing vitals? His goal was to kill Lucas, but it’s not like he was trying to kill Lucas as fast as possible. He was just playing around before going for the kill. Even if he could hit anything with perfect accuracy (and we don’t actually know if he can do that), why would he bother when random potshots work just as well? Lucas posed no real threat, so no reason to not prolong the fun and smack him around a bit before actually finishing him. (Probably also get in a few gloats about how pathetic… Read more »
He’s not firing with a lazer. He’s got a silly ninja-star launcher in his arm, installed by Weebmaster, which probably sacrifices some accuracy for coolness. Plus, he almost had his goons murder him, pushed him backwards through a glass window, and shot at him while falling. Lucas survived because he GOT OUT- which was what surprised Zeke in the first place.
He didn’t want to kill Ethan FAST. He wanted him to bleed out slowly. Non-fatal wounds can easily end up worse if there are enough of them. That’s what he meant about playing with his food. He was going to do worse, and watch Lucas die in agony. Where’s the fun in being merciful to someone who
you TRULY want to suffer?
My guess is, his failing to hit vital areas are on the part of the Weebmaster. He has said right from the beginning that he doesn’t want to hurt humanity, rather to save it. He doesn’t have to kill Lucas to accomplish his goals, just have Zeke take him out of action.
I think he used the phrase it is what he gets for playing with his food.
As in he was torturing Lucas before killing him and Lucas got away during that.
Hard to say, actually. No matter WHAT you do to Ethan, it’s just a “Snooze” button. But since he mentioned a permanent off switch I would lean toward what would be a killing blow in someone else.
Well, by real life logic if someone gets knocked out and stays knocked out it’s quite likely they’ll be seriously injured and might be bleeding into their brain or something. But we’re in comic book land where knocking people out is perfectly safe.
There are already two signals. The one in Ethan is so weak that Scott hasn’t found it yet. The fake signal is abnormally strong, shocking Scott as to how easy it was to find (but not making him think, “umm, that’s more power than I built into it” … at least not that we’ve seen).
The problem isn’t the number of signals, it is signal strength. And if we’re building Scott out as a super-genius when it comes to tech, then I suspect he’ll say as much in his next apperance.
Weebmaster WANTS him to be found. He’s getting a surprise ready. Not the “Surprise party” type of surprise the “Firing squad behind sliding door” type.
At least he wants the source of the amplified signal to be found.

“Humans can’t even agree on the shape of this planet, and you think I’d trust one of you with my life?”
That is actually a pretty good argument. If a race got such crazy individuals, why trust the rest who claims to be not-crazy/incredible-stupid?
I believe in a hollow earth:
If the earth was round, the middle part of the soles would be used.
If the earth was flat, our soles would be used be used on the whole area.
Since the earth is hollow, they are used on the tips and on the heels. 😉

Question: Didn’t Zeke say about two pages ago that he can tell when someone’s lying? He mentioned his master saying he’d help him live in the new world he creates, but slight changes in his voice made Zeke believe he was lying. So can’t he detect Ethan’s sincerity? I get that Zeke’s been used as a tool since the moment he was made, but shouldn’t machine logic kick in and have him analyze what Ethan said to find no deception? Besides, it’s different. Yes, Ethan is technically using Zeke to escape, but he’s doing so with every intent of keeping… Read more »
The fact that Ethan isn’t lying probably makes it more insulting to Zeke. His exposure to humans has been limited and his biggest example is hardly a great recommendation for our species. Even if he is connected to the internet, history doesn’t really paint a kindly picture of the species either, Everything that’s good about us requires a lot more looking than just reading historic records. As a species, we DO manipulate everything that we can, it’s part of evolving as a tool user, I think. Especially technology, we view out as “Ours” Zeke isn’t seeing Ethan trying to help… Read more »
Regardless if Zeke believe’s Ethan’s sincerity, Zeke doesn’t trust the human race in general. He will free himself from the Master before accepting help from other humans.
Except that Zeke views humanity as a whole as a flawed and manipulative thing, therefore a single human can’t be trusted, regardless of their individual intentions.
I dont think he’s a lie detector. He said the tones SUGGESTED he was lying. Just like if I said, “Uh, suuuuure….. Yeah, my rent check is… in the, uh… mail…?” my landlord may detect something in my voice to suggest I’m lying.
People skills don’t seem to be Weebmaster’s superpower.
Following this logic, I propose that Zeke is more capable of subterfuge than has been revealed. If he chooses to believe Ethan, there is no way he can escape with him or allow him to escape, that doesn’t end with his own destruction. Weebmaster will find out, probably sooner rather than later and almost certainly hit the kill switch. Even if he doesn’t, as has been pointed out before, 24 hours is probably not enough. From Zeke’s perspective, this solves all the problems. He has created a credible reason for losing his temper and killing Ethan (Freeing him to his… Read more »
It doesn’t really matter if Ethan is sincere or not. This outburst isn’t about whether the offer is genuine or not (it probably is), but about Zeke loathing the very concept of working with Ethan like that. ‘Work with me or I explode you’ or ‘Work with me or you won’t be free’ doesn’t make any practical difference to him, in both cases he’s still forced to work for a human or be annihilated. Zeke wants to be free of all humans, not just his master. He refuses to rely on or be indebted to another human, he wants freedom… Read more »

I died at the “Humans can’t even agree on the shape of this planet” line.
If it helps, evidence has been shown to indicate deeply entrenched conspiracy theorists may suffer from a range of personality disorders or schizotypy. Less than an intractable case of significantly lacking intelligence, they need help to overcome a need to feel in control while existing in a world which has become incomprehensible– which leads them to seek some kind of community which both accepts them and explains their predicament. More than derision, we need compassion to help those lost in a sea of chaos. This is why mental health availability is so important.

With his main exposure to humans being a ‘master’ who hates his guts, it’s not strange that Zeke hates humans back. Hopefully he’ll learn that Ethan is sincere. Assuming he hasn’t just killed Ethan, in which case I’d be quite convinced he’s interested in the plan and just can’t say it.

About “weebster listening in”? If so, it’s still there… on *yesterday’s” page! Tim pretty much never deletes comments, unless they’re something truly heinous or vile.
next page: hey, you, you’re finally awake…
here me out. Zekes only pretending to be mad at ethan
No, he’s well and truly ticked. After all, Ethan basically tried to use sympathy as a mask to try to escape. While he wasn’t lying, he WAS using Zeke.
Who says it was a mask? Ethan may not be the brightest bulb in the drawer, but he truly does seem to care most of the time.
I guess that went as well as can be expected.
and now zeke err… x01 knows who can fix him…
Curious. If Zeke truly follows this logic, I wonder why he spared Lucas earlier. Evidence of a scheme?
He didn’t spare Lucas. He fucked up and failed to kill Lucas.
Honestly, I find this hard to believe. The Weebmaster said so, yes, but let’s consider other evidence.

It might just be that Lucas dodged.

this is the discourse I am here for
I suspect the respawn will reactivate the homing signal so there are two thus stopping Lucas and Scott from walking into the trap.
He didn’t kill him, hence the “permanent off switch” comment. Or at least it wasn’t intentional if he did.
he didn’t kill him, just clocked his lights out
Hard to say, actually. No matter WHAT you do to Ethan, it’s just a “Snooze” button. But since he mentioned a permanent off switch I would lean toward what would be a killing blow in someone else.

Just in time for Ethan to be visited by the Ghosts of Winter-Een-Mas and get a powerup.
Well he knows he doesn’t stay dead- Snooze in this case might be dead, depending on whether he’s in on the plan but can’t say anything.

Well, you’re right.
+ to above posts. Wasn’t he just knocked unconcious? = no respawn.
That’s actually a prejudiced, xenophobic argument. Not ‘racist’ but… xenist?
Just because some are delusional doesn’t mean that the rest suffer from the same delusions.
I’m wondering about the amount of flat-earthers believing in a flat earth vs. the number believing in a good trolling.
