Wouldn’t that be the twist of arch. Nicole gets back together with Ethan (temporarily) . Ben breaks up with Lucas. Tim would be super evil because he knows we are rooting for the Ben/Lucas.
Ethan’s ex becomes a supervillain with the name “Up”. In the course of her supervillainy, she gets broken, figuratively/mentally or literally. (note the actual title is capitalised, “Breaking Up”, it would fit)
Joking aside, I’m thinking it’s about Ethan’s break-up and the s… tuff Nicole pulls off in its aftermath.
It’s possible, though police officers typically have a pretty strong bond with each other. I’ve watched enough body cam footage of officers struggling with the loss of a fellow officer in the line of duty to know that it could have been as simple as a colleague get a caught up in a fatal interaction. I know a lot of people are making speculation that this has something to do with a superhero, but tragically this sort of thing happens every single day in the real world, and Tim nailed the depiction of grieving officers. Ya thats prob it. Good for story telling. Adds options and “depth” without removing a named character or even needing to build somebody out a death flags for us.
Without any further context (nor Patreon access), I hazard a guess that he suffered minor injuries, and was being treated before being released. The fact his shirt isn’t done up, and that he’s not wearing his bulletproof vest, suggests something abdominal, like being thrown violently into a wall, or being shot/slashed /etc on his back

I really worry about how the last sentence is formed and is potentially going.
I found it reassuring… like at first he’s pushing Lucas away, downplaying, but then accepts the kindness love and lets Lucas get him out of there. It’s so sweet ):

I assume this is in the US somewhere, so no telling what injuries he is still walking out with. That exhausted look is actually from Ben seeing the bill.
All I remember was Tricare sucked so bad it was a gamble if you should use it.

Is the dead cop his job partner? If so I wonder if per chance Ben had a crush on said partner or not. Like he doesn’t have to, ofc, losing a partner/colleague/friend is devastating no matter the circumstances and the circumstance here being murder makes it just worse.
Hope these two can find some quiet time for themselves.

Well it started with Ethan and Nicole separating.
Most arcs have a myriad of situations that the title could refer to, so it’s impossible to draw any hard conclusions from that.

My guess is, that he was the actual target of the attack and got hurt while his partner died.
So we have survivors guilt, PTSD and a lot of other nice mental issues to deal with.

Police never see the bill when injured on duty, and in most cases off duty too. Same as the military, they are taken care of by the public trust
