Didn’t the original PlayStation start as a platform for Nintendo but then became the first Sony platform since Nintendo rejected it?

the playstation is actually a by-product of nintendo i think. It was originally the NintendoPlay. A console that had both disk AND cartridges. (like an old vhs/dvd player).
Yes and no. It was both made as an add-on for the SNES (called SNES-CD) and a hybrid cartridge/disk console dubbed “Playstation”. Nintendo ended up backing out as they say the terms of partnership unfavourable to them. Events lead to Sony focusing on the playstaion as their own console
