The Console War tends to be very difficult to write, or very easy. This one just fell in my lap. I checked my Switch, I can’t see any really noticeable bending, but I’m all paranoid now.
In other news, the specs for Project Scorpio are out, and oof… it’s a beast.
CEO Kaz Hirai couldn’t resist throwing some shade, though!
I will admit that the Xbox Scorpio specs are impressive. It can manage 6 teraflops, whereas the original Xbox One was just 1 massive flop.

Dat mustache, tho.
That’s a parody account, not Sony’s CEO.
What gave it away? The giant “PARODY ACCOUNT” in the description? 😉
To be fair, the part where you said it was a joke account was hidden by the “read more” button, so some people might not have noticed it.
But that’s part of the fun 🙂 I dunno, that’s a pretty popular parody account. Combined with the avatar and the fact that it’s unverified, I figured most would figure it out.
I actually didn’t know it was one until I clicked the “read more.” So my first reaction was “wow.” Which then lead to just an “oh.” 🙂
I didn’t knew, guess it was too good to be true.
I’m telling you I must be lucky *knock on wood* I haven’t had a single problem with my switch.
I haven’t had any issues with my Switch either. Got it day one. Granted, I probably don’t play as much as others haha.
It’s pretty cool we got a third party joining the war with the Switch which seems to stand a chance against Xbos and PS, but not everything seems to go perfect for it. And the Scorpio sounds awesome with 6 teraflops, can’t wait to see what it’s going to look like in the console war when it comes out.^^
The start of some nuclear war would be… interesting.
It’s been established that weapons are games and nukes (or at least air strikes) are SUPER popular games, or alternatively new portions of systems like access to cloud networks, so SSB4 Would be the WiiU’s main nuke while Splatoon would be a mighty rocket launcher or gattling gun or possibly an air strike. Pokemon and mario are probably standard fare top notch pistols, altough pkmn Stars for the switch will be most likely rank as a stellar *rimshot* assualt rifle. Scribblenauts, any mario game, LoZ, Kirby, etc. are all assorted weapons for Nintendo. Peripherals like amiiboo are apparently grenades. A… Read more »
if the bending is from overheating i can kinda see it happening, mine does get pretty hot in the dock while im using it for tv play over long periods. best advice i can give is dont do longer then 6-7 hour docked play sessions.
Problem is that many have had it happen that don’t even use the dock as well. Some part on the board is going down regardless in some models. But at the very least, everyone I know who has contacted Nintendo for it has got a replacement set up quickly.
Parody account, Tim
Yeahh… He says that right underneath it.
Anyone who doesn’t imagine the Switch Captain with the voice of Steven Jay Blum is a bastard.
I was thinking Kevin Conroy…
Curious. How planned out do you have the overall console war story? Will you ever touch upon the Ouya or Steam machine systems again? Like maybe how they’ve been all but obliterated? 🙂
I don’t generally plan it out at all. I’m entirely at the mercy of the industry for material for this one.
Well, I meant not ENTIRELY. Someday I’d like to so some more fleshed-out character driven stuff within the series that would fall on my to create. But for the most part, I’m trying to interpret news in the industry, news that moves the needle for one console or another, into a giant land-based war.
Steam machines and Ouya may get mentioned in passing, if it works within some other context, but they had their “blips” on the radar already.
DARN! I saw your comment appear! This comment system rocks!
*Poof* It’s magic. 😀
one thing id like to see is a map drawn up of the current battlefield
also project scorpio sounds like either an urber soldier or some kind of tank, proberly a tank as this seems to be the second console war
Yeah, I’d like to see if it is based on some kind of “World war” aka users/buyers throughout the world with lines or more of a central battlefield like in Europe.
So . . . I left a comment and it got deleted. What’s up with that?
You left a comment and it was held in queue to be approved. So there’s nothing “up with that.”
OK, OK. Simmer down. Not familiar with the new system.
Pft. The bending is really from just 4 Reddit users and at least one of them supposedly (see what I did there, Mr. Paranoia) a PS4 troll.
That being said: ring of death 360? Overheating PS3/4? Or too noisy?
Actually, Mine and my sons Switches are both getting the bend, in different ways, his is literally bowed, if you lay it on its screen on the table you can rock it back and forth about an eighth of an inch, whereas on mine the right side of the screen is literally coming out of the console. That and if I don’t have the right side of my left joycon aiming EXACTLY at my switch, it may as well not exist if I have it more than 8 feet away from the console. now, as for my PS4? Horizon caused… Read more »
Anyone else having problems paging backwards and forwards on the new site? Wednesday’s comic was posted a bit late or I missed it for whatever reason, either way before reading today’s comic I wanted to go back to read the new one so I did the following Started on the home page, hit the “previous comic button” which is an arrow to the left on the home page. I then hit the left again to confirm that I had read the previous comic (Monday’s), I then hit the forward button to return to the Wednesday comic. This all worked correctly.… Read more »
There is an issue with comic navigation. Seems when I hit the site I still see the “Barrel Awareness” comic on load. Have to hit “Latest Comic” or “Next” in the navigation in order to get to the newest comic.
I didn’t experience the problem. Maybe you’re having internet caching problems?
Yes, happens to me too.
Same issue here. Always defaults to “Barrel Awareness,” and can’t get the Next button without hitting another first.
Have you all tried clearing cookies? Perhaps typing in cad-comic.com in the URL bar instead of using a bookmark?
If so and it didn’t help, what browser are you on?
I have to do all of that every time but reloading the page once I get there fixes it. This is on Chrome windows 7, Firefox windows 7, Edge windows 10, and Chrome windows 10.
I’m pretty sure this is also related to the way that navigating doesn’t actually change the URL. I’m presuming you are using some kind of current gen CDN? If so, likely the problem is there as they tend to send caching headers that are not necessarily correct.
Err, I should have been clearer. This problem is exacerbated by the odd navigation behavior on the main page (it not taking you to the page of the previous/next strip, but just replacing the strip in-line, while not setting a history event).
That said, this exact problem is likely just caching that needs to be cleaned up.
Interesting, so clearing the cookies didn’t do anything, but disabling ABP fixed it.
the magic of WP 🙁 archive is NOT showing up at all for me (i can select but content-div remains empty) I can barely browse the comics in chronical order (sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’T) WP sucks, it always does …it’s your leatherman… can do everything really, but if you need a screwdriver you’d rather grab that if you need tweezers you rather grab those… and if you need a website you rather pick something other than a premade CMS that’s cluttered to the brim (sending 1.2MB to show a blank screen) Yeah well we all make bad decisions… Read more »
I am not a computer guy whatsoever, but I have this same thing. I type either cad-comic.com or cad-comic.com/cad and it still defaults to barrel awareness (as of 2017-04-11). I am on Chrome (couldn’t tell you what version). Googled how to remove cookies, did so, and it still defaults to Barrel Awareness. Also ran into a hiccup while going through comics and reading the comments section, it got hung up on the early access comic for a while (also today 2017-04-11), and thought that was the final comic for a while until I typed the url again. I read the… Read more »
I had the same problem twice this week. I had to click the logo at the top to get the latest strip, and then I bookmarked that page since my bookmark was a different URL. And now I just had to do it again to see this strip because it was still on the Earliest Access strip.
Latest version of Chrome. I can try clearing cookies, but I won’t know if it worked until Monday.
Oh snap, that dis on the XBONE was so hot, it just red-ringed!
I’m so glad the comments are back. It was starting to feel like a ghost town here with nobody around to talk about the new comics with. Even the forums almost never had a thread about them.
Neat comic… I would say though it would be even funnier if it was called “The Bends”, instead of “The Bend”, since it would be an off-hand reference to the real-life bends, which is a decompression sickness. It could fit here. 😛
What makes you think it isn’t?
Well. Just my luck to buy the system 2 weeks before knowing about problems like this. Am I regretting it? Nah, Legend of Zelda is solid. Exploration is my favorite shtick. What I do find somewhat annoying is the item radar. It may be confusing at time. Still. Good way to get the treasure chest you missed. Speaking of exploration, it feels like Nintendo took a lot from Shadow of The Collossus, mostly because the atmosphere. I do wonder if I am ever gonna find one game equal to LoZ in the store someday. I will get tired of the… Read more »
I’m kind of glad I didn’t get a Nintendo Switch yet, especially with issues like this happening to it. I held off because there was only one game being worth getting for it so far, LoZ. If it had a bigger opening roster of good games like that then I would’ve gotten it on launch and could’ve potentially gotten one of these problems (likely knowing my luck).
The LoZ is not bad. Actually, I was actually awed by seeing Farros dragon and terrified when I first encountered talosian, the SotC way.
Problem is, after getting season pass, I am not sure if the game can entertain me for that long. The summer dlc better be big ass bigto give more time for winter dlc.
I did not find any good indie that would interest me yet. But it is good news that square throws out Seiken Densetsu remake bundle. Hopefully with English version.
That console skull is creeping me out.
I wonder how joy-con drift will be written into the story
