sooooooooooooo…………is that a clue ????????? ethan basically dies everyday before this and meaning his blood also vanishes with him, meaning the troll never got a blood sample or even had one long enough to be able to make a vaccine ?
Imagine he does that, and they find it so hilarious, they pin it up on the wall. And then Ethan dies and respawns, and the page turns blank. Then someone pieces together Ethan’s superhero identity.
He wasn’t always like this, at least not *THIS* bad. You have to remember that for years he literally never had to worry about dying, and paradoxically had to learn how to handle *NOT* dying. This is a subject that has come up a few times in the Deadpool comics, as there have been copies and clones made of him that he was very quickly and very easily for this same reason. He doesn’t treat his regenerative powers as a safety net, he abuses them like an immortality cheat code. Copies and clones made of him still try to avoid… Read more »

Didn’t the troll mention using ethan’s blood? Lucas has confirmed it disappears on respawn…
We already knew it disappears on respawn. We also know that if he loses blood and then goes long enough to return to a ‘healthy’ state, it doesn’t disappear on respawn. There was a whole storyline devoted to this when Ethan was trying to sell his blood.
Also the Troll just said DNA, not necessarily blood.
When Ethan respawns, nothing of the “old” man remains, so while the troll might have gotten some DNA from Ethan before he got his power, troll would have known it would be needed and who Ethan was years before troll knew he would need it. So either the troll had help from the past or he’s just full of it and is messing with Ethan, I have my serious doubts the troll is THAT smart, or he’d never start any of this in the first place.
Not particularly. A bit trickier than usual perhaps, but nothing too difficult.
Even if we assume every respawn would indeed clear every possible DNA sample (dubious), it’s not as if Ethan actually died all the time. Even if he died on the job, he’d still leave new samples before leaving the scene. There’d be an ‘expiration date’ on any sample until the next respawn, but there were plenty of times Ethan went days, weeks, possibly months without dying. More than enough to get, record and analyze a sample.
The sample taking really isn’t the implausible part of Trolls claim.

but who is to say that the troll could have got the blood from a time that ethan did not die, maybe a bloody nose or something?? it is still possible
Read the page before it, Ethan even mentions that he’s testing if it ‘still resets’ if he lets his body heal back up before respawning
If he dies within a short enough period (how long exactly is unknown to us, potentially known to Ethan) it will ‘reset’ and vanish/respawn along with his body, but after a while it will remain regardless of whether he respawns.

What I love is, for most of Ethans life he was mortal, and in a very short time he honestly has no idea what to do with blood now.

Long ago, I’ve tasted some of my blood off a nosebleed or other accidental cut or scratch, and its not a bad taste, mostly a little sweet and bitter. Kind of like that intoxicating car exhaust smell.
Just don’t make a habit of it.
Red beetroot juices are similar to blood because of high iron but also tastes a little similar.
I don’t do it anymore.

So Analog never ever sustained a non-critical wound before or what??
I guess licking is an option 🤔
I was coming to say just the same 😅
Just seemed like an Ethan thing to do 😳
🤮
Licking is always an option.
Except at funerals. Or when exploring a glacier. Or at Chernobyl.
Well, I guess it more accurate to say it’s always an option, it’s just often not a good option.
Remember, kids – if someone is encased in caramel, it’s okay to lick without consent.
It’s like how all things are edible, it’s just some things are only edible once. Everything is lickable, it’s just some things are only lickable once.

No, because when he was donating blood they figured out that if he stays alive long enough after losing blood, it won’t vanish anymore.
That’s why he was able to carry literal BUCKETs full of blood to the hospital.
i dont remember this i might have missed that panel
I wonder how many times a day Lucas thinks “Your parents have SO much to answer for…..”
Have we ever seen his parents in this version?
back inside you is the worst place it can go at that point.
Any letters to write to Megagame perhaps?
Imagine he does that, and they find it so hilarious, they pin it up on the wall. And then Ethan dies and respawns, and the page turns blank. Then someone pieces together Ethan’s superhero identity.
Unless they are making contracts they don’t require blood.
Makes you wonder how on earth Ethan managed to survive up to the point that he got his super powers in the first place…
That’s basically THE question in everyone’s mind, since the very beginning decades ago.
As Zeke 1.0 said, if you calculate Ethan’s life expectancy, the result is a NEGATIVE number 😅
He got his extra lives due to an integer underflow.

Didn’t the troll mention using ethan’s blood? Lucas has confirmed it disappears on respawn…
Gooood catch. Big + in the ‘troll is trolling’ column.
That was exactly what my brain came up with while reading the last panel…
Maybe it could be blood left after events that didn’t require Ethan to respawn. I imagine he has had his share of bloody noses, fighting crime.
Sure, he’ll respawn later on. In different circumstances. But that could be hours or days later.
You’ve got a point. It’s just not solid enough, to support the “troll was lying” hypothesis.
there was a whole arc about him trying to donate blood, after a while separated from his body it doesn’t despawn
We already knew it disappears on respawn. We also know that if he loses blood and then goes long enough to return to a ‘healthy’ state, it doesn’t disappear on respawn. There was a whole storyline devoted to this when Ethan was trying to sell his blood.

Dude, what? I don’t think you understood what I said.
The troll doesn’t need DNA from pre-powers Ethan, why would you even think that?
Ethan – like every other person – leaves DNA behind everywhere he goes, all the time, and said DNA doesn’t disappear unless Ethan immediately dies.
Ah-ha! So his blood vanishes when he respawns! More evidence the so-called DNA acquisition is bunk.
Not all DNA is blood. Hair samples are a big one and we do leave stray hairs around all the time.
Does his (fallen out) hair vanish at respawn too? Or how about skin flakes? You lose lots of skin all the time, too.
I think the troll is trolling, but it’s not just blood to worry about.
True, but DNA from hair tends to come from follicles rather than the hair itself. And skin flakes are usually dust sized.
And there is the “bucket of blood” from before but that implies they would know his identity.
not always https://cad-comic.com/comic/responsible-research/
not unless he does so quickly
Well that makes it far less likely the troll could’ve gotten a sample, don’t it

Back here, the blood didn’t seem to despawn even if Ethan did respawn:
