I had someone once tell me that fallout 1 & 2 didn’t matter as they weren’t part of the good fallout series from Bethesda. With a straight face. We haven’t spoken since.
I know people like Fallout 3, and while I´m not a fan of it I´d call it acceptable (as a game at least). The point is more that Bethesda didn´t make Fallout – they bought the IP.
Fallout 3 was the first fallout I had, but the only Version I played through was New Vegas (with only the Missing Steam Achivements “For the Republic, “Heureka!” and “Hardcore”)
… are there people who think positively about Kindoms of Amalur?
Honest question. I played through 1.5 major areas and found it simply “alright.” I can’t recall seeing any high praise from gaming websites. I *DO* recall that the doors were pretty cool.
KoA??? Underrated, I so greatly enjoyed that game. I am quite upset at the entire state of Rhode Island for putting a sequel most likely in permanent purgatory.
There are plenty of people who like it. One of my friends and I watch a YouTube channel where one of the hosts loves KoA. My friend, being I to RPGs like Witcher and Skyrim gave it a shot, and apparently it’s a slow burn game. And the start they thought “eh, it’s alright, not sure what the fuss is”. By the end of the game they were addicted, I tell you. Addicted!
Didn’t you know Bethesda renamed the previous elder scroll series to Skyrim 1 to 4?

Well, indeed, 3 and 4 have few options for non-combat builds. He probably didn’t even know life has different ways to play, other than killing and looting and picking through trashcans.

Now if you really want just want to ruin the relationship have her play Fallout: Brotherhood of Steel. Just picked it up today and my god it is a bad Fallout game. Not a bad game overall honestly just a bad example of a Fallout game.

Zeke would still be Evil from the humans point of view. Zeke wants to eliminate us as he is superior to us in every way (in its eyes anyway).
So from the last panel I’m going to assume that Lucas’s arrows *can* be sharp but don’t have to be, otherwish that guy’s about to be missing fingers.
I remember this being part of a discussion a ways back.
Well he decapitated Ethan pretty early on, so they can be lethal, but I wonder if it’s more of a mind over matter thing. As in Lucas has to will it to move through objects, such as fingers, to make it lethal, you know, now that he’s gotten practice with his vectors.
Things don’t have to be sharp to cut/pierce things, they just have to be thin enough and moving fast enough.

This is, almost without a doubt, the most hilarious comic I have seen in a bit. Granted that just means it is my favorite of the story arc (because we were doing Starcaster for a while) but this is seriously some prime material.

Tried playing Fallout 1 three times. Never made it more than a couple of hours. After the longer stretch, it physically hurt.

To be fair, I never played Fallout 1 and 2. I heard of them but they didn’t appeal to me at all. It wasn’t until Fallout 3 that I started playing the series so it doesn’t surprise me if some people are pretty ignorant of the first 2 games.
It happens. Star Wars started on Episode IV, and Xenogears was technically Episode V.

After Fallout 76, I can’t blame the poor guy anymore. There’s no Fallout 5-75, so the possibility that there’s also no Fallout 1 and 2 is now somewhat logical. ?
Counterpoint: If you’re paying enough attention to know that Fallout 76 is named after its primary vault, then you’re also a gamer who probably pays enough attention to know some of Fallout’s history (ie, isometric beginnings, etc). Even if you haven’t played them. However we have to remember that there is a huge swath of the gaming community that is very casual in their approach to games. They don’t pour over trailers and gaming blogs, anticipating release dates, reading development info, etc. It boils down to “My friend told me this game was cool” or “Oh this looks neat” and… Read more »
Eventually they Nintendo tried a version of the “episodic gameplay” concept, and labeled each level as its own game. Really buggy, barely made it out of beta. My older siblings told me tales of when you could put Rabbit Ears on someone and then steal all of their stuff, and how there was this one spot with a HUGE respawn rate on Koopas and Goombas, meaning that you could reliably farm it for everything but Exotics.

Man, I wish the original Fallout didn’t have that god awful time limit and the iron-fisted RNG. The originals are great otherwise.

okay, that punch line got a good belly laugh out of me. Well played, Tim. Well played.
Well, if you write comics for 2 decades and don’t work on plot and writing, you are doing something wrong. (Fact: god hates comic fanboys. You know who you are)
Tim has obviously done it right. Tim, I have a hard time trying to stop reading your comics and doing other things. That is a really good thing. You are probably one of the best out there. Don’t listen to the haters. They’re just jealous. A merry winter-een-mas to you all! (yes I know it’s the middle of July. Shush. I know what month it is)

I am getting pop up adds in the bottom corner that auto play music, it think we are meant to report those! Ad is for MG cars.
Tim please make that happen at some point if you see this. If you can’t make it happen yet, that’s fine. But please have it happen at some point.

I managed to get my boss to start playing video games.
Though he likes turn based strategy games, and also watched fallout 4 streams, i told him he should try at least 1 and 2. A few “maybe i get them at some point later”, i bought him the Fallout Starter pack with 1, 2 and Tactics, just to get him hooked, he tried the first one, died to the rats in the first cave and to my knowledge has not tried it again.
I am very sad. 🙁

I don’t like every post-apocalypse game, but Fallout is one of the ones I do. They need to have some degree of tongue-in-cheek weirdness and some humor to keep me going. The more serious ones are the ones I find too depressing to play.
I had someone once tell me that fallout 1 & 2 didn’t matter as they weren’t part of the good fallout series from Bethesda. With a straight face. We haven’t spoken since.
No friendships lost there. What good fallout series has Bethesda made btw?
Well, there’s New Veg… Oh, wait…
I think you meant Nuka-Wor….nope not that one either.
New Vegas is awesome.
Yeah but that was made by obsidian not bethsada which is the point he was making here
Tru dat.
Fallout 1 & 2. Like trying to explain to people there was Warcraft before World of. . .
And Tue, many like Fallout 3, I happen to like Fallout 4. Could it have been better? Sure. But I still got sucked in and enjoyed the game.
What I think Bethesda should do is partner with Obsidian to put more and clearer writing in. And make Fallout 5 a jewel of a game.
That said, put Ethan on the Final Fantasy road. I think he will convert.
I know people like Fallout 3, and while I´m not a fan of it I´d call it acceptable (as a game at least). The point is more that Bethesda didn´t make Fallout – they bought the IP.
Like saying there WERE Warcrafts before World Of.
Or that there were ultimas before ultima online
Fallout 3 was the first fallout I had, but the only Version I played through was New Vegas (with only the Missing Steam Achivements “For the Republic, “Heureka!” and “Hardcore”)
SLEET GILGAMESH
Too bad Bethesda has spoken on the topic and they’ll basically never partner with another studio on a Fallout game ever again.
I know they act coy like it *could* happen but when your best explanation is “Oh well we’ve gotten bigger since” then that isn’t an explanation.
https://www.gamepur.com/news/29469-bethesda-outside-studios-fallout.html
Next after that she can play Arcanum.
Ahh that game has not aged too well
Wasteland 2 maybe?
I didn’t get it. Did he fake the fainting?
No, he didn’t. Why would you think that?
Not gonna lie. I felt like Lucas for a minute, then a did a spit take while reading the last panel. Very nice
To be fair to the criminal, a lot of the heavy press on Fallout didn’t start until 3, so most of the common man knows it around 3 and 4 and NV.
Now, the real challenge for Ethan and Emily (and the criminal, I guess)….what do they think of Kingdoms of Amalur?
… are there people who think positively about Kindoms of Amalur?
Honest question. I played through 1.5 major areas and found it simply “alright.” I can’t recall seeing any high praise from gaming websites. I *DO* recall that the doors were pretty cool.
KoA??? Underrated, I so greatly enjoyed that game. I am quite upset at the entire state of Rhode Island for putting a sequel most likely in permanent purgatory.
I have no idea what that game is
What happened? I can’t quite recall what it was myself and don’t really want to go digging so if anyone could explain it that’d be nice.
There are plenty of people who like it. One of my friends and I watch a YouTube channel where one of the hosts loves KoA. If you’re talking about outsidextra, you’re now officially one of my best friends, too, and God bless that little druid named Ellen
outsidxtra. Fucking autocorrect
I really like KoA but I think that it is a fairly slow game and that it hasn’t held up too well for the few years since its release.
it does do a few things well and I really like how the skill system and multiclassing and stuff works though.
Wait for him to find out there are 4 “Elder’s Scrolls” before Skyrim.
Didn’t you know Bethesda renamed the previous elder scroll series to Skyrim 1 to 4?
and I have them in my gog library but I’ve YET to play them

Yeah, that one was a disaster.
Fallout Tactics, though, was an underrated entry into the franchise that I absolutely loved.
Hey, Tim if you see this please consider it. What if next issue, they manage to free Zeke of his master’s killswitch? Please take this into planning.
@Joystick
Zeke would still be Evil from the humans point of view. Zeke wants to eliminate us as he is superior to us in every way (in its eyes anyway).
Fair. But what if Ethan and Lucas fought him that sure, we are inferior, but can help him by taking it out in the bad humans.

It’s more of a “wait, there’s a 3, how can there NOT be a 1 and 2?”
Yeah. Not knowing there’s a 1 and 2 is just pure ignorance. Not playing them is a choice.

Super Mario 4 – 63 were apparently so terrible, no one today is able to remember them.
Maybe Bethesda took a lesson from Nintendo.
