The two ways I have seen it play out are if the player is going to be there and it is going to take more than most of a session to let them play a temp character usually 1 to 2 levels behind the party or that an event where a player was out and had to be saved would specifically be times around something like the player being on vacation or knowing they are swamped at work and missing a few sessions
Yep, like I said a couple updates ago, this is exactly what I would expect and have experienced in my own sessions, if there’s a main character out of commission, a hireling or something gets played by the player whose character is unable to participate.
I find it more interesting when it’s a hireling that has been with the party for a long time, but sometimes that’s not feasible because the party has no hirelings, so something like this happens.

Maybe that will calm down all the bandwagoners complaining about 3 running a campaign centered around his own PC and 4 having to sit out.
I’m glad One at least realized that fact.
Are temp characters a normal thing for players who have their main one out of commission? If so that’s pretty cool for people to not just sit around.
Well, depends on DM. I feel it is common courtesy so that one player would not be excluded from game.
I imagine the stats and experience are low on the character compared with 4’s usual character.

Any GM worth his salt isn’t going to force a player to sit in a session where they’re not allowed to do anything.

Yes ^^^
I read that as “My name is ‘I have strudel! A penis!'” and thought that was a really strange name
I think it works better as “My name is ‘I have strudel’! [I am] A penis!”
I feel like the title of this strip should have been, The Campaign: Against the Cock.
The frying pan tho
I’ve heard those things have crazy high defense.
Frying pans, right? Who knew!?
It’s the only thing 4 would allow in order to let the game go on.
Otherwise cue 10 pages of bloody panels from consecutive assasination.
Just found this series and love it.
Welcome to the party!
hahahaha this comics are too funny.
Well that came out of nowhere.
