As much as I enjoy all branches of CAD 2.0, Starcaster stands out as my favorite by far. That glorious space-adventure itch can only be scratched by so many shows movies are falling short. Still too much of a cheapskate to donate though, so having to wait is fine by me.
I remember in a couple of rulesets you could sleep in light or maybe even medium with a feat of some such. Since it took minutes to get into some heavy armors.
Could take longer than that in real armour. You can sleep in in modern body armour… sort of. I wouldn’t say it is the same in restorative ability vs. even having a decent sleeping bag with no rock stabbing you. Then again, most people want to fight dragons, so I suppose ignoring realities is within the idiom.
It never starts out then. Someone falls asleep. Running hard all day (travel overland, fighting, healing, casting arcane magics, etc) probably make you exhausted. People try to stay awake, but if nothing much is raising a fuss, the sentry often falls asleep unless they have a strong potion of Ka-fee.

I love that title. It does sum up some campaigns after a time.
The Germans have a word that means ‘Having shame for others’ (with the implicit possibility the person at the root of this may not even accept or be aware of the fact they should be feeling shame… others thus do it on their behalf).
I’m sure ennui was what got us aspic, eating snails, and tarduckens – which are French.

Same old, same old… time to start a new campaign with a new DM… 4?
Write up a great story for the session. When they ask who came (they may not know the others didn’t – doesn’t matter though), just say some alts ran their characters. It’s okay that the normal group couldn’t make it – the alts are great to play with and one is a great baker and brings foods. They’ve agreed to fill all the chairs at the table. Perhaps next campaign you can get in on it.

This is typically when you say, “Hey, I know, let’s try some Call of Cthulhu.”
Enough of that and they’ll be begging to go back to just being simple heroes.
Other Players just thought it was Starcaster time.
After this. 🙂

Nobody was keeping watch? Everyone just… slept?
The alarm spell is a hell of a drug.
What disturbs me more is that he was sleeping in his armor …
Restful Crystal is a godsend! 😁

In 3.5 D&D you can sleep in light or medium armor with the Endurance feat.

Maybe it’s because I’m not native English, but I don’t get what that means
the word the title is referring to is “Ennui.” The title basically is just Tim spelling it phonetically. It kind of means to be bored with everything.
If you know French, it’ll make sense.

mua-hahahahahaha
4 would skip Rocks Fall Everyone Dies and go straight to the heat death of the multiverse.
Been there, player and DM.
I don’t know, have you checked the THREEtops?
I guess Quest 1 of the day: Find everyone!
Find out how to wake them up.

After finishing a Call of Cthulhu one shot
“… so… do we win? Lose…? ”
“You survived. That’s about all you can expect here.”
If everyone survives a cthulhu campaign it’s cos the GM was being kind
Survival IS (at least sometimes) winning. The times you are alive but you didn’t win (or at least manage a draw)… that’s pretty grim stuff too.
So, what kind of rolls is this going to require?
Perception, Persuasion, Intimidation, Initiative, attack and damage. new character? In that order?
Ah yes, I’ve been struck by Ah’nwee’s curse on a few occasions, I’m quite familiar with these symptoms
Oof I feel that pain on my D&D nights.
