Pants first, and maybe coffee.
We can talk about destiny sometime after never.

So, just protect the Starcaster? Nothing about protecting whoever it’s attached to? Geez, that’s real generous of you, Nyrah.

I’m sure she still doesn’t like Cort all that much, to be honest. It’s not like he’s shown himself to be an awesome, upright person of moral clarity. And considering everything that she’s given up, Cort’s frustration and anger may only sound like whining.

Yeah, I also think she doesn’t like Cort much but she also doesn’t hate him. He is just “imperfect”, like ya know, a regular human being and compared to her upbringing or to the amazing example her big bro set as starcaster holder Cort just can’t hold a candle to that. Tbf, they are from different cultures and had different childhood/jobs and what not. Nyrah and her big bro went into this after an Elite training and being all honorable and dying for your own empire/race/etc while Cort wanted to become a cop/fed soldier/marshal and being disappointed by corrupted, money-crazy… Read more »

Yeah, that’s fair. I think her views right now are:

STARCASTER
100% FOR
0% AGAINST

CORT
60% FOR
40% AGAINST

The way they’re talking, it makes me wonder if the real first choice is going to be for Cort to leave her behind or allow her to stay

To be quite honest, if she thought that Cort didn’t have potential to use it properly, I’m 100% certain she’d wait until he was off-guard, kill him, and take it.

I don’t see her as a murdering a good person sort even if there could be greater good to transpire if he didn’t have it. Now if Cort started doing something evil then absolutely, but not just because he wasn’t “living up to his duty”.

Boy, Season 6 has a lot of eye candy for the ladies in it. Not my personal cup of tea, but we can’t all be selfish. 😉 Though, here’s hoping that the first choice presented to us isn’t a) go work out in the gym, b) shower again, c) take it all off.

I mean he has to wash the starcaster arm this time…

Take it all off refers to taking off his entire arm.
Go work out in the gym leads to him off camera working out while we look at Speck.
Shower again just cuts to him fully dressed after taking a second shower

What would you expect from Cort? He IS a smuggler/rouge after all. He just wants to live and get rich. Destiny and fighting in wars are not his thing. I wonder how he will react to the news of the war.

Seems to me he pretends to be a rogue. He is an ex-cop. At his core, he wants to be a good guy, but he’s been jaded by the world he lives in. Had he grown up on Nyrah’s world, he could have been someone like her brother. In his own way, he’s probably the best person to protect the starcaster… if he can work through his issues.

He’ll probably end up “hiding out” on the same planet that the other guys decide to raze.

And indirect perhaps we DO get to choose what planet they decide to raze, by picking what planet he decides to hide out on.

I don’t see him as a just wants to live and get rich, he cares about doing something more right than wrong, and does what he needs to do to get by, but I don’t see him as willing to do anything to get money. Someone who just wants to get rich sells her off the moment he has a chance, he wants to get money out of the deal and getting rich is good, but he isn’t willing to just do anything to make that happen.

When the fate of the entire universe is at stake, one must wear pants…it is essential.

Now when you say pants, do you refer to exterior trousers or the interior jockey shorts/boxer shorts

I’m thinking in this context he means American pants, not Brittish ones.

Cort is increasingly growing on me. I was sick and tired of Nyrah’s contradictions and moral grand-standing a few chapters ago, and he is just sounding 110% DONE with her shit. I really hope he keeps up with this.

That aside, he’s also right in that we should fly under the radar for a bit. There’s an EXTREMELY hostile space fleet somewhere out there, not to mention that necroworm dude we ripped off last year, and, according to Tim, we don’t have plot armor. So stupid actions will yield death.

You mean Ssissimias? We didn’t rip him off. He gave us a dirty job, and despite some grumbling from Nyrah we completed the job with our skin intact.

Did we? I thought we caved and ripped that guy off? Now I gotta go back and look. I could’ve sworn we should have been looking over our shoulder for pissed off maggots or some such

No, he completed it fine. That comic is Cort explaining why he wasn’t adding another enemy to that list.

Boring. Can we please skip this part? I’ve seen it a million times already. He’s going to whine and moan and be a jerk to the lady who was tortured for a 100 years until she was reduced to nothing but a head with some organs in a jar. Then he’ll come to his senses and be a hero.

Ven

I must protest. It is NYRAH who has been the jerk. Just because she had bad things happen to her in the past does not excuse her bad judgements or give her opinion more value. She said she was willing to do anything to protect the Starcaster, but when it came to doing a single dirty job just to get to the planet it was located on, she welched. Any idiot could have seen that just fleeing to the authorities in this universe was a horrible idea, but Nyrah insisted on it anyway, and what happened? Cort had to rush… Read more »

Well the fleeing to authorities thing is an understandable mistake for someone taken clearly in her early idealistic years and locked away for a hundred years, the other one though I understand. But while a lot of her complaint is how this will turn out, a part of her complaint is that she wants Cort to be better and be what she is seeing in him.

I know we don’t have plot armor here, so we can die at any given choice pretty much. But this is my favorite story, and I’d be sad if it were to end here haha. The Campaign is a little meh in my opinion, and Analog + D-pad is decent, but it just seems like there’s so much more going on in this Starcaster story. I’m just sad we only see three instalments per week of it haha. Anyways, excited to see where this whole story goes. I don’t know how someone who has never used a Starcaster or anything… Read more »

That’s kind of an interesting point with the installments. Once the main Starcaster story is done, a prequel series about Nyrah and her brother could be interesting. Anyone else interested?

Prequels are tricky things. One of the main problems is there’s just no suspense; you *know*, for example, that Obi Wan is going to come out of any battle more or less fine.

Besides, Nyrah’s just not as likeable as Cort or Speck. It’s just part of her character. She’s the stick in the mud, the Marge Simpson of the team: there to remind you all what you’re ‘supposed’ to do. I don’t think she can carry the story by herself.

I’d love a Speck side story, though. With lots and lots of Mimons.

She’s not likeable NOW. A hundred years ago when her brother was alive and she hadn’t been tortured off and on for decades…..that’s a different story, mayhap.

Is it? What if in the last issue there’s a twist and we find ourselves in the sol sector and it’s revealed that what we thought was the far future was actually the present and the last issue has everyone battling over earth

I’m curious- if a parasitic leech thing (like the Ssissimissisisas that gave him the job for the purple fire powder) were to attack and control the body of a Starcaster bearer (the person is dead but the corpse is being used) would the star caster still function?
Yes it’s really gross but someone brought up the leech-man and this occurred to me.
