I was mistaken on the previous page and thought she was getting a whole new body, but it’s just an arm, and with no cool gadgets like I was hoping for. Oh well.
A vessel lists when it tilts to one side due to uneven cargo/balance. Since her right side was heavier, she’d list to the right. She’d lean left in order to keep an even keel, but that’s not the list.
Wait… Why Cort says that The Federation has 2 starcasters? I thought the cold war was effective because there were 3 starcasters, divided between Federation, Dranglaflex and another.
IIRC it was 2 for the Federation, 2 for the Dranglaex and one rumored. Now it’s 2 for the Federation, 1 for the Dranglaex and one confirmed unaffiliated.
It was effective because the Federation has two, and the Dragalax *said* they had two – the Federation knows of the one, but the Federation *assumed* they had Nyrah’s brother’s Starcaster when the Dragalax conquered and wiped out the entirity of her people – save for herself. It was locked inside one of her race’s fortresses on her brother’s dried up corpse, if you may recall in a previous chapter. Now that the Dragalax are aware they can’t get the second one, they started the war because at this point there’s no point in waiting to find the second before… Read more »
We’ve seen both Federation Starcaster-wielders: Major Danton, whom Quel questioned about whether a SC-wielder could sense another SC-wielder (not exactly, but kind of if they’re actively used was the answer), and Lance Major La’ni from the end of the last chapter.

Wonder if she’ll ever get a new clone body or anything like that or maybe Terminator like with a living skin cover.
Might be a poll option in the future to either get her a stronger robot body better suited for combat or clone her a new body so she can actually be somewhat normal again

How weird would it be to be able to feel with your arm, but not sense temperature?
I broke my back in two places, while I’ve learned how to walk and such I have barely any feeling from the waist down it’s very weird but I’ve made it work I just have to keep checking things to make sure I didn’t hurt myself.
Since we are talking about a robotic arm here: Touch and temperature are two very different kinds of sensor (even in humans) and can work using very different protocols (also even in humans). So if the touch sensor protocol is compatible with her main system, but the temperature sensor is not, that would mean that she can feel, but not sense temperature. Same can happen in humans too. Medication, illness or injury can affect one, but not the other. Very simple example: Capsaicin, which is the molecule that makes hot food (hot as in taste) hot, triggers the heat-sensing nerves… Read more »
………You can’t see me right now, but I’m performing a massive facepalm. It’s comments like this that forced the Sci-Fi channel to change their name because it was similar to a term for an STD in Polish. I just wish people would stop making complaints about massively mainstream things like the common word for a “Speck of Dust” when quoting super eclectic bits of trivia.

I just reread the whole thing and I gotta say, hats off to Tim and the Patrons. It reads extremely cohesively, if you weren’t told outright it’s almost imperceptible that there’s choose your own adventure elements. Everything flows together and makes thematic and emotional sense. I know there’s some criticism about the democratization of choices means usually safer more “uninteresting” choices get made, but I would have to say none of the characters ever act against their type or make bad decisions. Take the instance with the vossium dust, Cort and the readers choose to take the job and also… Read more »
I typically only offer a choice for voting if I see multiple, equally interesting paths to explore. If I ever find myself thinking “I really hope they choose this path” I just don’t offer the choice, because it means the alternative isn’t fun/interesting.
It does mean that, as things get set into motion and with so many moving parts, there are times now with stretches between choices, but it also tends to mean the choices are more important. Patrons are about to face a choice next month that will drastically determine the story’s trajectory going forward.
Oh man. I have a feeling I know what “Kind” of choice it is. And people… it would influence EVERYTHING that is to come. Become a Patron if you want a say.
It’s incredibly wise of you. The foresight is impressive.
I do imagine as things continue the third act climax will essentially be “locked in” after some point. And that makes sense, all the decisions the Patrons make and you make are going to influence what happens.

Cort just needs to deal with the situation and man up this freaking out and beating himself for his mistakes aren’t getting him anywhere. He’s in an awful situation yes but he can make a difference now so shut up, steel yourself, win the day AND save the girl!
would love it if at some point they got her a military grade prosthetic body lol
Perhaps that possability will come to a vote in the future. If you’re a Patron of the comic, you’d get a say in it, ya know?
Like Cyrax from Mortal Kombat?
Alita, Battle Angel
Nah, Timberwolf mode.

Or rather, there’s a few cool gadgets that she can’t use.
“just an arm” makes a whole of a difference tho
She’d need to be in a hospital for that procedure that’s more like the post credit scene not mid-story… sorry…
Cort, for you…old age is now a bit…chimeric
It’s an amusing joke, but since she’s not a ship at sea, she’d actually be listing to her left to maintain her balance XD
A vessel lists when it tilts to one side due to uneven cargo/balance. Since her right side was heavier, she’d list to the right. She’d lean left in order to keep an even keel, but that’s not the list.
So her right, our left, right? ?

Not to be excessively pedantic, but…
The fortress was of the Aug, not the Odrossians.

Sorry, misread, thought you meant it was weird, that Tim chose to split those two functions.
Every time I see the word Speck, I flich since “Peck” is a racial slur for Nelwyns (Willow & the Shadow War books). LoL
