Lovely scene setting, actually. Yhough I wonder one thing, if this is somehow a shoutout to the planet of hats concept.

…why would it be? Planet of hats = Everyone (on the planet) has the same feature, no? So far we’ve literally only seen 3* people of this planet**, and probably all from just one family. And in what appears to be a sunny area with little to no shade, making hats a fairly sensible thing to wear. Assuming planet of hats from only that seems a bit premature. *Possibly 4 if crystal farmer and tractor dude are separate people, just with similar clothes and hair color. **Assuming this is a new planet, and not some rural corner of one of… Read more »

I find something oddly reassuring and comforting about one simple fact: it may be a distant planet with a civilization we know nothing about… but a tractor is still a tractor.

Opening on a Blue Harvest? That’s a classy hat-tip.

For someone who is far too aware of the tropes used in fiction, this scene fills me with dread because the only thing going on in the back of my mind is that these people are going to die.

well, that farmer family is dead.

Is he…farming glowing crystals? Are those edible? Like organic rock candy?

Anything is edible if you’re determined enough. Not everything is edible twice, though

I’m pretty sure that’s how they made meth in Breaking Bad.

remember how when speck was returning he barely dodged one of cort’s practice shots with the star caster? The Starcaster Chronicles, 10.02 – Ctrl+Alt+Del Comic Ctrl+Alt+Del (cad-comic.com) im 99% sure this is gonna be the poor scrum town on the other side of the sector that the energy is gonna dissipate all the freak over the galaxy. and the captain marvel wannabe is gonna use that as a excuse to go kick cort’s ass as a enemy.

“ol mcdonald had a farm. e-i-e-i-OH SHI-” *boom*

I was thinking the exact same thing, but then it occurred to me that this looks like a “fringe planet.. densely populated with settlers.” (Phone won’t let me link, check out Ch 10 Pg 15 from Aug 10, 2022.)

either way, whether its a scrum town on the other side of the sector, or a fringe planet densly populated with settlers, they are gonna end up with a lethal sunburn from a starcaster, whether accidental (cort) or on purpose (vectanix) either way, someones last words are gonna be “OH SHI-” *boom*

Essentially the only way that could ever happen is in fiction. Space is ridiculously big. – If the beam spreads then its not a danger, if it doesnt spread it’s not going to hit anything before it passes out of the universe.

I find it interesting that your concept of alien cattle is basically a cow/yak… with more eyes. It’s very human 🙂

I’m guessing this is a cross between “Little House on the Prairie” and “Episode IV: A New Hope”.

“You have failed me for the last time, Nellie Oleson. The ability to cower all of Walnut Grove with your crass attitude pales in comparison to the awesome power of the Force!”
