Mr. X, there are paraplegic-friendly vehicles, in the form of modifications that provide a hand throttle and hand brake for vehicles, so those with non-functioning/limited-functioning lower-extremities can maintain independence with vehicular transportation of their own.

Sadly I think that you’re correct that the question will be repeated incessantly. For reference I’m 46 and I first heard of cars modified for handicapped persons to drive when I before I was old enough to drive. In fact when I was attending Drivers’ Ed at 16 one of my instructors stated that except for blindness a car can be modified to overcome any physical handicap. Cars can be modified for paraplegics. This usually involves long extensions attached to the foot pedals to make them reachable by hand. Some cars will even replace the pedals entirely with controls mounted on or near the steering wheel.
I always saw wheelchair users being driven around by people who can still use their legs. I can easily imagine a car modified to be used without legs (I think F1 cars don’t have pedals and only hands controls, so regular cars should work too), but I just never have seen one IRL. Also, I don’t know about other countries, but where I live the disabled parking lots can be used for any disability and not just wheelchair, despite the image. For example, in my country autism is valid reason to get the disabled parking card (I have a family… Read more »

And yeah, cars for people who cannot use their legs do exist. And it is nothing new – when I was a kid (let’s say about 35 years ago) my father bought a car which had an additional set of manual controls near the steering wheel, in addition to pedals. So a disabled person could use the car perfectly well (my father wasn’t disabled, he just got that car quite cheap. And it had a full set of functioning pedals also).

But, anyone that qualifies for a disabled placard can park in them. My aunt has one and she has fibromyalgia.

Is nobody going to point out/notice that Scott’s either A: driving on the wrong side of the street. or B: driving a left-hand drive vehicle in a locale that requires driving on the left.
The road perpendicular to them has a standard yellow divider, while the road they are currently on has a white divider, indicating that they are currently on a one-way street.

Did anyone else notice that they’re driving on the left side of the road?
The traffic light poles are set up for right side of the road driving. They are parked on the oncoming traffic side, so I understand the confusion. I’m more concerned that the wheelchair is on Ethan’s side. If this is Scott’s car, it would make sense for it to be in the front side passenger seat if Ethan wasn’t in it, but I’d think it would be in the driver’s side rear if Ethan put it in for him. Maybe I’m wrong though.
I don’t think they’re parked. There’s quite a bit of distance between the car and the curb for that. Plus the nose of the car is in the crosswalk. If Scott parked the car he did a terrible job of it. It looks more like he’s stopped at a red light.
Before someone makes this suggestion, I don’t think it’s a one way road. The traffic lines are yellow, not white.
Also, now that I think of it, I don’t see Scott crossing the median to illegally park the car. Ethan was having a panic attack over him driving at 15 mph. Which is silly. There are people out there that can get out and run faster than that. Granted that is above average for long distance running, but for a sprint 12-15 mph is normal.
Anyway, I don’t think Scott is actually driving on the wrong side of the street but rather Tim accidentally positioned the car that way.
They definitely are right lane drivers, or have an imported car. The wheel is on the left side.
However you slice it, they are doing something dangerous. They are parked too close to a crossing (illegal in most countries), on a road where the traffic lights suggest it is a one way road, where they definitely are parked facing the wrong direction.
Then again it is very quiet at night, so why the lights aren’t set to stand by is anyone’s guess. This is now letting traffic wait for no reason.

Not 100% sure but I think it was fully paralyzed. The event was when he was shot when mugged, and it wasn’t amputation, but a spinal hit.

It would definitely be ridiculous for me; Asperger’s competes with a fear of driving for my most defining trait.
People sometimes get those for non-wheelchair disabilities, or for vehicles which are used with someone who uuses a wheelchair but does not drive.
