They deserve it. I’ve never felt the need to buy anything super popular the day it came out, but all the times I’ve seen products get scalped to high heavens…. It just seems like such bottom feeding behavior.
Grown men buying every single card pack either to open them all themselves looking for rare cards to resell and then literally throwing everything away when they get junk (happened right in front of me) or resellers buying out all the stock and reselling online to people looking to do the former.
I hope this sooner rather than later and when it does I will not shed a tear. I will point and laugh.
My friend, I wish it were as simple as grown men buying every pack to open themselves looking for rare cards. This would be detestable, but not as detestable as what’s actually happening. Instead, it’s grown men stalking card distributors to arrive before everyone else and buying out everything – not for the purpose of opening a single pack, but to resell to the exact people who would have bought it at retail from the exact store they got it from, if they hadn’t bought them all up. They are literally inserting themselves between the retailer and consumer – the… Read more »
You missed the point : he was indeed implying that no scalper is worth of sympathy. He was not speaking about their money.

Scalpers deserve to suffer. I still haven’t forgiven any of them for the PS5 shortage years back. May all their wallets develop more holes than a cheese grater.
C’mon, have some standards, you can find someone better to screw. 😉

And in the end you just tell him “they are all reserved, thank for coming”

my local store has a rule. You can buy boxes msrp if you want, but they will tear the wrapping. Fully closed boxes go for scalper premium, and even then 2 boxes max (also for the msrp boxes). It seems to be working, because we don’t see many scalpers.
I am an MtG player myself, so not too much scalping there (ok, FF was crazy) butr I wopuld fully support those rules if scalping owuld get out of hand.
I’d say the ratio for good/bad landlords is MUCH better than that for scalpers. Some of us have the good fortune to get additional property through marriage, inheritance, downsizing, or just saving to invest in property. We’re not making a profit. Rather we’re charging enough to cover costs knowing that it’s building equity we can pass on. And any time repairs have been needed or appliance replaced, it’s done quickly and been an upgrade since we may or one of our kids may move in some time in the future.

It’s not just scalpers anymore. I saw a line of camp-outs next to the Best Buy yesterday, you got hardcore fans who bring their kids and collections and the anime teens too

There are no poor scalpers.
Luckily, there are some that “invested” into Magic the Gathering’s Marvel Spider Man after the success of Final Fantasy XD
And boy, did those salty tears bring a smile to my face.
Not poor in the sense of not having money…

we’ll need bigger holes
Nah screw scalpers. Keep going Ethan.

‘Poor Scalper’ is an oxymoron.
Poor is a term of sympathy here, not of the quantity of their money.
They deserve ZERO sympathy. That’s the point Taylan and others are making!
I’d hope Ethan would say ‘sorry i’m scalping these for the store, you’ll have to pay those prices per piece’
Scalpers are the worst scum of the earth
Landlords/landladies.

The point isn’t ‘bullying people waiting early’. It’s bullying scalpers, specifically!
At least the kids and collectors buy these things for their purpose, and don’t turn around and resell them for profit.
You’re doing gods work Ethan
Autoplaying video ads with blaring sound? seriously?
Look, I get it, ads are important for revenue, and you obviously do not have any control over the ad content, but this is just anoying.
If you want to drive everyone into patreon, just close the free comic and be done with it.
Check your own setup. I’ve had zero video adds, and I’m just browsing on my stock standard phone. The only adds I get are the little banners.
What “setup”? I’m using desktop Firefox, with uBlock disabled for cad-comic.com…
Browsing the internet without uBlock is your own fault
true, but I specifically disabled uBlock for this page, to be nice… But that’s what you get then, I suppose…
Once again Ethan is proving why he’s a hero.
As if I couldn’t like Ethan even more, enjoy torturing that scalper.
