DO2007: Prizes and tabletop

December 15, 2006 by Tim

I’ve updated the Digital Overload site with a list of some of the prizes we’ll be giving away at the event. This is not a complete list, and will be regularly updated as we approach the event.

We’ve also updated the account section of the site, so if you’ve registered and paid, you can login and update your information, and also list some games that you’re planning to play, which will be compiled into this list, so you can see what everyone people are bringing.

One of the most frequently asked questions we get is “Do I need a PC to attend Digital Overload?”

The answer is absolutely not. Aside from our gigantic PC LAN, Digital Overload also features a console and tabletop gaming section.

This year our console section seating is sponsored by SUMO, so you can lounge in style while you play your games. You can bring your console of choice, a tv or monitor and games and settle in for a whole weekend of gaming with fellow attendees. You can also jump in on games that other people have brought. We will also have official Digital Overload systems set up for our console tournaments.

We also provide a lot of space for tabletop games. We’ll have some board and card games on hand for you to play, or you can bring your own. The choice is yours.

This year we’re really expanding on everything, tabletop and console gaming included. Wargaming will be featured at the event, so if you play Warhammer, Warhammer 40k, Dark Age, LOTR miniatures or whatever, pack up your armies and scenery and bring them along.

We’ll also be awarding a prize for the best-painted single Warhammer/Warhammer40k miniatures, so bring your best work to show off!

I’ll also be doing some comic related events, that we’re still working out the logistics for. Digital Overload falls on a weekend, and as such I think it would be fun to have a sort of “Whose Line Is It Anyway” audience participation event where Monday’s comic is written on the spot, and I create it right there while you watch.

Digital Overload is going to be a lot of fun. There are a group of Canadians out of Toronto in the process of organizing a charter bus to travel to and from the event, and people looking for room and ride shares from all over the country. So drop by the forums and make your plans to attend DO2007.
