Gimme some light!

After watching the Mass Effect video last week, I found myself itching for a rich, involved single-player adventure. So I went rummaging through my games to find any that had been neglected (and unfortunately there are many), and came up with Twilight Princess. Though originally I had been turned off by the really pixelated graphics, I decided to sit down and try to power past it.

Sure enough, after you get past the bland first half-hour or so, the game really starts to pick up. I binged on the game all Friday night, and most of Saturday, and I’m still trucking through it. I’ve got about 14 hours into it now, and it truly is an outstanding game. It’s a shame they didn’t get it out the door before the Wii came out, or just plain develop it for the Wii. I think I’d be far more impressed with the graphics if I didn’t know that it was a Gamecube game they just couldn’t get out on time, so they threw it on the Wii as well.

Anyway, I just got the Master Sword, so I figure I must be at least halfway through the game. I’m determined to add this title to the list of games I’ve actually finished. It’s a small list, and it needs all the help it can get.

Also I’m sure many of you are aware that a demo for Bioshock hit the marketplace late last night. I’d suggest starting it downloading as soon as possible, because it’s taking looooong time for a lot of people. So the sooner you start it, the better chance it will be finished before the game comes out in a week.

I played it last night, and then again this morning, and it’s better than even the videos portray. It’s definitely a creepy atmosphere though, so I won’t be touching the full game until early September when I have some backup.

One thing bugged me though… you can genetically alter yourself to control fire, ice, electricity… but where is the damned “illuminate” plasmid? I mean at least in Condemned you had a flashlight, but in Bioshock it’s just you and the shadows. It’s like they want us to wet ourselves.

Oh, also, boobs and steam mechs.
