Stuff is happening!

November 14, 2007 by Tim

Got some announcements for you today.

First and foremost, on Monday, November 19th we will be launching pre-registration for Digital Overload 2008. Over the next few days we will be adding all of the preliminary event, hotel, tournament and sponsor information for the 2008 event. On Friday at some point I will open the DO 2008 discussion forums, and then on Monday registration for the event will open. With over 600 gamers in attendance in 2007, Digital Overload is one of, if not the largest LAN party on the east coast, and 2008 is shaping up to be even bigger and better. We’re all getting really excited to start working on the event again.

Friday I should have some more event information for you, I just wanted to give you a heads up that registration was on its way.

We have some new products in the store. The new magnet sets (here and here) and the Player One and Player Two t-shirts are now available. I’m told it’s going to be another week or two before the Cube and Church of Gaming shirts are done printing.

Let’s see, what else… I have been playing a lot of Mass Effect. I mean a lot of Mass Effect. Probably far more than I should be with the amount of work that needs to get done around here. It’s kind of hard to not play though.

The game has a few quirks, some might refer to them as flaws, but so far it’s nothing that has detracted from my enjoyment of the game in the slightest. I’ll post an in-depth breakdown of what’s what, maybe on Friday. It’s a pretty large game, and it takes a little while to really wrap your head around the scope of what it has to offer. I’m playing through on the Veteran difficulty, the hardest one available from the get-go, which makes some of the fights fairly challenging. I can’t wait to see what Hardcore/Insanity modes are like.

I also went with a soldier for my first play-through, because I figured it was a clear-cut archetype to learn the game with. And definitely Renegade, 100%, for those that will ask. I’ll go Paragon with my she-Shepherd on my second play through. But my first play through of KOTOR was dark side, and so it’s a little tradition of mine. I even tried to get my Shepherd to look as much like my KOTOR Jedi as was possible. This is my Shepherd (except now he’s wearing some awful mustard-colored armor with blue trim).
