The kind of person that becomes a superhero doesn’t really seem compatible with deciding ‘not my business’ unless they’re just in it for the glory, and as we’ve seen, Ethan has serious motivations.

Of course, a smart superhero makes sure not to draw attention to his secret identity, especially over something as minimal as a stolen wallet. But then, this is Ethan…

It looked like Ethan made a fairly successful low key takedown to me, unfortunately he forgot the other high protocol of making sure who and where the villain is first.

We still don’t know. The guy could have stolen a cop’s wallet.

If you look closely, there’s a hint of a shoe in running position at the right edge of the fourth panel (the tripping panel). I’m guessing that’s the thief.

Yep, that is a mistake that can eaisly happen. Luckily nobody has died due to it this time.

True, but he DID do things in just about the most low-key way possible. His options were A) Ignore it B) Trip the “thief” C) Pretend to trip over HIMSELF, landing in front of the “thief”, who would then trip over a “clumsy idiot” D) Tackle the “thief” E) Change into his costume and capture the “thief” A = bleeds into Uncle Ben territory B = most low-key option, especially if the cop didn’t notice Ethan PURPOSELY trip a real thief. C = most innocent method, and would probably not get in trouble if it was the cop. But NOT… Read more »

The undercover cop should take it as a compliment that his undercover is so undercover that it could fool anyone into not knowing he’s an undercover cop.

Love the detail of the other foot at the very right edge.

To be fair… that could be the stolen wallet with a stolen badge 🙂
But Ethan is never that lucky.

But damned if you do, damned if you don’t. Had that been the thief and he let him go… then it could have turned into an “Uncle Ben” situation with someone Ethan cares about.

Thats probably the joke Tim was going for. He didn’t do what Peter did and tried to stop him, but the joke is that he stopped the wrong guy.

More like Damned if you do, Damned if you don’t, and Damned if you don’t pay attention if you do.

I did actually helped someone chased by the police in such a way once.
Guy being chased down the streets in Amsterdam. pushing people out of the way, cops running behind him. I stepped aside but purposely left my foot just enough in the way.

Enough to trip but but also enough to make it look accidental just in case it would backfire.

“I did actually helped someone chased by the police in such a way once.”

You might want to rephrase that. That makes it sound like you helped the person being chased by the police. IE, you helped that person get away (like Ethan just did).
Though, depending on your region… you might be claiming you’re actually happy you did that.

Ethan will be fine I think. It was an undercover cop he tripped so he could easily argue that he thought the cop was the thief (which is true) and he didn’t see the thief.

Take note of the foot at the right edge of the panel where Ethan trips the guy. Yeah, Ethan just screwed up.

Gotta admit it’d go a long way towards hiding your identity long term though. Even if you get “caught” there’ll be millions who refuse to accept that their glamazon is a dude most of the time.

Take a closer look at the middle panel, the bit right near the right edge. Ethan tripped the wrong one. He got the undercover cop who was chasing the thief.

Based on the information he was able to pick up in that short period of time, his decision was correct. It would have been better with slightly more perception though.

The good news is we know nobody stole the cop’s wallet, he’s definitely showing he’s got it…

Definitely looks like Ethan tripped the 2nd guy. At least that’s what I got 1st read through.
