You don’t get it…she is not in that mood because he discovered how you really are, but for feeling that she has failed her people. She thought she was saving he people heritage and history but now all will be remembered as “the last wonder of the extinct race ended in the hands of a burglar”
That is true but to be fair she also expected him to be siper jazzed about being the savior of her people. Burglar or not she put way too much expectation on one person she had just met.

Still pissed that we couldn’t betray worm guy or trust in Quel. Why did most voters always pick the most cowardly option?
Dude. If that worm guy was in this comic any more than they were… I would not be reading it again cuz as the Gruff says, THEY WERE NIGHTMARE FUEL and I don’t need to see him again.
Quel is the “safe” option in many regards, not the “cowardly” one.
And tempting fate by making a powerful enemy with way more connections and resources than we have for basically no reason makes no sense, especially since Cort’s more of an anti-hero than a lawful stupid caricature.
‘Half-stache Jack’ was the previous owner of Cort’s ship (or at least partial owner). He is implied to have died some time before the events of the first comic. You see a picture of him somewhere in the first few pages. He was a good friend to Cort that would make for some interesting back story exploration.
We haven’t met him, but I think he was Cort’s old captain and the guy that taught him the ways of the smuggler. Cort has his ship now, so either Jack is dead or retired (which for smugglers, is death)

I’m confused. Is this a soft reboot? I remember his partner trying to talk him out of rescuing her as though he intervenes often to save people. In addition, some of the previous lines from Queltharu have suggested that Cort is disillusioned and disappointed at the corruption in the marshals’ forces. You don’t get that way unless you’re idealogically opposed to it.
Its mentioned also before that Cort was looking up to Jack during his federation days and likely early fugitive days; as such comment about needles rescues might relate to that; also Cort is former Marshall of federation, aka he got frontline seat to witness corruption (and if he was trying to be how Jack was, then corruption likely was why he left federation and became fugitive)
I don’t think so. Ever been angry at yourself? Feel you are an imposter with your skills?
Then everything you do or are is negative. Cort may have genuine redeeming traits and is generally a good person. But every bad choice still haunts him.
He’s talking about the very beginning, when Cort lost the ship from a bet, then essentially stole it back, with her on it. The discussion that Speck and Cort had afterwards was what to do with her, and Cort convinced Speck to play along and lie so that they could recover the Starcaster and make a boatload of money off of it. Since then, Nyrah has required additional rescuing, and the conversation you’re remembering, IIRC, is probably from when he rescued her from that station/outpost/thingie that clearly WAS corrupted- so Cort DOES have good, noble, selfless parts of himself. That’s… Read more »
I don’t see a conflict, you can be taking bribes and then busted for it and then be against the system of bribes. Just means he was weak willed. You can be a scoundrel that murders and steals and still often finds themselves saving people. The tension within his character hasn’t been resolved which means he has places to go, narratively speaking. I think it’s pretty good. It also makes sense: Cort is a mess and his approach to life has been a mess. If he was a cold blooded smuggler wouldn’t you think they’d be doing better for themselves?… Read more »

Because worm guy was a nightmare-fueled monstrosity, and the further amount of distance from him, the better.
As for Quel, I think it’s just because people like the whole “Han Solo / off on my own / not controlled by anyone” sort of schtick.

Jack was a smart man
Which one was jack again?

Can some one clarify for me?

Not that I’ve seen. This fits based on previous episodes.
I’ve been reading this through the Patreon, and it’s good to see this now showing up on the main page. You’re all in for a treat. ?
No, I’m not giving any spoilers.
