Universal

December 17, 2007 by Tim

I started keeping up on Universe at War: Earth Assault a couple months ago when I saw some showcase on the different alien races in the game. I enjoy RTS games even though I hate, and suck at, the “rush rush rush” mentality that seems to permeate all online aspects of every RTS in existence. […]

To Err Is Human, to Arr is Pirate

December 14, 2007 by Tim

A few people have asked me my opinion on Pirates of the Burning Sea so I thought I’d talk a bit about it here. First of all, I am all for being a pirate. I would love a game where I could either be a pirate, or regularly interact with pirates in a very piratey […]

‘Jacked

So I’m personally psyched to announce that Privateer Press, the makers of WARMACHINE and HORDES, will be sponsoring Digital Overload 2008, and additionally that we’ll be running a WARMACHINE tournament at the event! Some of you know that painting miniatures is a hobby of mine, something I like to do when I get free time […]

XBL gamer pics

December 8, 2007 by Tim

I need to put together a second CAD picture pack of gamerpics for Xbox Live. Drop me a line and let me know what characters you’d like to see in it, or even if there’s any specific artwork you’d like to see as a gamer pic.

With a spoon!

We’ve announced a few more Digital Overload tournaments. Gears of War 4v4 and Texas Hold’Em are back from last year, and Armagetron, which has been at Digital Overload the past 2 years, finally gets an official tournament. Additionally the Gaming United crew, under their new business name Game Overdrive, will be joining us for the […]

It’s too cold outside

December 3, 2007 by Tim

I was debating whether to comment on the whole Gerstmann/GameSpot issue, and I think I’ve decided I need to at least make a brief suggestion here. If you’re not familiar with the situation, senior editor at GameSpot Jeff Gerstmann was fired last week. Now, no official details have been released as to why, but some […]

Forever Cube Tee

November 30, 2007 by Tim

Woops, looks like the whole first batch of the Forever Cube T-shirt is sold out already. I’m told we’re going to try and get a new batch printed up early next week.

Digital Overload registration. Badges are $45 until the end of December, but you need to register/pay by 11:59pm EST tonight to get a free t-shirt with it. You can still get the t-shirt with your registration tomorrow for an extra $5, but why not save the money, right?

Brief.

The Church of Gaming and Forever Cube shirts are up in the store and ready to ship. Also, Magnets, which I just think are really neat. Almost like toys, which I’m sure I’ll get around to doing at some point as well.

Rockin’

November 26, 2007 by Tim

We’ve announced three new tournaments for Digital Overload 2008 today, Rock Band, Super Smash Bros. Brawl (as long as it makes its release date) and a Magic: The Gathering booster draft. We’ll be announcing the remaining tournaments over the next couple of weeks. Don’t forget if you get your registration/payment in by this Friday (November […]

Turkeybone

November 21, 2007 by Tim

Just a quick heads up, Friday’s comic is Thanksgiving related, so I just uploaded it to the system for Thursday, so you can have it tomorrow. Happy Thanksgiving. So Rock Band is pretty fun. I do have to say that the drums are tough. And I used to play the drums in high school. So […]

Registration is now open. Remember, you have to have payment submitted prior to December 1st to get the free event t-shirt with your badge.

Assassin’s Creed. Seems like they should have called it Repetition Creed. It’s a fun game, and enjoyable, but at the same time it seems really sloppy when you do the exact same thing for every mission. A) Arrive at city of choice.B) Gain access by blending in with a conveniently placed group of scholars, who […]

The deluge

November 16, 2007 by Tim

So let’s talk video games, it’s been a big week. Here are my opinions. Lynching some Kane The aiming in Kane and Lynch is pretty much exactly like the Hitman series. This is to say, a little clumsy and not very accurate. Single player (from what I’ve played of it) strikes me this way: Great […]
