Ah, a magic button that lets him control something far more powerful than himself.

There’s no possible way this could backfire on him!

Weeb master he may be, but he did make a sentient ninja robot. He knows what he likes, and he has the skill to make it happen.

His sole weakness: tsunderes.

Ethan got respawning.

Oh wait. Exploding powers. That’s right.

Love how Tim is able to keep it ‘correct’ over a period of 6 years.
The “Master” showed up twice more in the past… and albeit in a silhouette, the curly hair, slightly heavy set figure can be made out since the first appearance.

I’d like to adress your comment as well. Pal87 was bringing up what he viewed as an issue. The correct reply is not to be a dick, but to bring your own insights to the matter, and see if you and him can meet halfway and see if there is common ground.

Good luck in tempering your brash responses in the future.

This looks like you actually understand that not everything has to be an even compromise and forcing every interaction into that mold just means still giving the most unreasonable and entitled people half more than the nothing they deserve.

Expressing disappointment isn’t “whining”. And disagreeing or disliking someone’s reaction doesn’t make what they’re expressing any less valid.

Wait so because the character isn’t a good guy you’re upset because he’s black? So should no villians be POC just so they don’t hurt your feelings? Complaining is more and more common in this age, wah no POC, wah they added them but not like how i wanted, wah why don’t people bend to my crying and make me happy.

Life isn’t your mother, it doesn’t drop everything and come running because you get your feeling hurt. Best you learn to deal with it now and get over it.

It will only be ridiculous when people feel it is no longer warranted. Just telling people to “get over yourself” is not a helpful reaction to making people feel like the world is getting better. It makes people feel like you are part of the problem.

Gordito from Doctor McNinja wasn’t evil. He was, as Doc put it. “the effing badass kid”. The Bombadier from the Specialists isn’t evil. Tiger from Spinnerette is Lawful Good to a fault and that fault is not giving Dr. Universe the benefit of doubt most of the time. Dr. Brightman’s worst crime in Star Power is falling for the romantic advances and musical talent of an egotistical sociopath and that ends the moment she witnesses him murder his own (illegally created) clones for not singing well enough. Best of all is Unsounded, where the heroic Captain Toma and Lieutenant Elka first encounter the main protagonists in the middle of a gruesome ritual room and assume the worst. Toma in particular has earned his… Read more »

Yeah, Elijah is a graffiti artist, but on the other hand thats not necessarily a negative stereotype. I mean, I live near Cincinnati and there’s some buildings that are huge explosions of color and art. Yeah he’s doing it illegally, but its not like he’s tagging gang signs or something. Its a protest against violence in video games (and guns themselves, remember he was tagging gun stores too as Ethan found out after confronting him) as he came to grips with his brother’s death at the hands of a school shooter who was obsessed with Fortnite. Oh that’s easy. It’s annoying because it’s some fool telegraphing they want to attack a content creator we obviously enjoy over some dumb fallacious reason.

Doubly so because even this very sub-comic has plenty of older positive representations and somehow they’re acting like this new, non-stereotypical but mildly negative one is the only one.

Do you honestly even know why people defending an artist from unprovoked and baseless attacks upsets you?

The most powerful hero and other secondary characters are black.

This is a thoughtful response that addresses the context of this specific setting. But, it seems to me that there’s some merit in the observation that webcomics have a relative scarcity of non-white characters.

It certainly sends a message when the readership of this comic gets so bent out of shape for expressing disappointment that Ethan & Lucas only seem to have negative interactions with nonwhite people.

We don’t have to assign blame to our favorite content creators to acknowledge the patterns among characters that we meet.

I think the problem is that the frequency of on panel cast members skews toward white (men too ever since the break up, but that’s a different conversation). Having an off panel paragon that is POC doesn’t really address that representation gap. Elijah doesn’t help either, at least not yet. We haven’t seen him for a while and his time was primarily oppositional to Analog and D-pad while he broke laws. If there were a regular occuring on-panel-presence of nontoken nonoppositional characters that are POC, then one as a villain (whatever moral complexity you ascribe) is less problematic. The issue… Read more »

They do not “need” to be represented in any way beyond what the creator desires. Webcomics are unique in that they’re a wide open genre with fairly low entry requirements for creators. This comic skews the way it does because it’s written by a cisgender white male, and that’s fine. There are plenty of other comics written by whatever flavor of human being’s point of view you’d like to see. This the rare medium where “finally a POC in a webcomic” can be met reasonably with the rejoinder: “then read different webcomics” If you want to read a comic with… Read more »

Hi Pal87, I’d like to address this. Starting with the statement that I am all for a broad, inclusive cast in our various forms of culture and media. I believe that it is important to showcase in tv, movies, books, graphic novels etc, that our world has a wide diversity. It is important that we have people of various races, sexualitys, genders, and religions depicted in pop-culture. This is how we improve progress within the culture, and attempt to stamp out bigotry and hatred. However, Tim has previously introduced non-white characters who have been not evil. Captain Prime comes to… Read more »

X to doubt. Captain Prime isn’t white and Elijah’s black. Conversely, Demolition Duke, the Troll, and all the petty criminals I can recall from this comic are white. Heck, even Scott doesn’t look completely Caucasian. If you’re talking webcomics in general, I feel like there are plenty of examples of people of color in good or neutral roles. Fewer than there *should* be? Quite possibly. But I’m recalling Gordito from Doctor McNinja, Dale from Questionable Content, numerous cast members in the Walkyverse, the *incredibly* diverse cast of Oglaf, and so on. I unfortunately don’t read too many webcomics so my… Read more »

Elijah’s also a villain. Probably the lamest villain ever, as his thing is having incredibly bad opinions about video games and graffiti, but a villain nonetheless. And I’m sure Pal and the other SJWs complained about that too. Hell, they complained about a one-off where a POC was a game publisher employee for crying out loud. These people do nothing but look for more reasons to complain. As Anita Sarkeesian, queen of these fools, once said: you have to constantly look for reasons to be offended.

I got the impression he is pressing a button on the device, with him holding it the way he does (if it was voice activated, he wouldn’t need to take it out, though it could be to better show the readers what is happening). Though yeah, it reminded me of a scene from “The Incredibles”, where the (constantly improved with every defeat) killer robot figured out the remote is able to stop him, and destroyed it. Y’know…I don’t know why, but I thought it was somehow the return of the Troll specifically going anti-tech to mess with Ethan and Lucas. Part of me hopes this will end with Zeke returning as one of the good guys (in his own snarky pro-AI ways), but the other part of me hopes that freeing Zeke will result in a spin-off series of him. If anything, I’m hoping for the end of the Red Ring of Death he’s sporting. Sorry (but not sorry), Zeke’s always been my favorite character in every iteration and he needs more page time. Love how this is being done to make the Weebmaster (until we have a real name) more contemptible and Zeke more of a sympathetic character. I especially like that Zeke KNOWS that giving his input will get punishment, but does it anyway.

Between this, and last page, it makes me wonder about Zeke’s real feelings towards A&D. Sure, he hates them, but maybe in a xenocidal “all fleshy meat-things are bad” sort of way. Zeke and Ethan, at least, are peers. Weeb is just a slavemaster.

Not really. It’s not one emblem. The grey bits seem to be a secondary kimono (or part of the red one, not up to date on traditional japanese garments), and under that is just a standard shirt with an anime girl on it.

(I will concede that with the vague v-shape it can sort of resemble the lines from the skyrim logo it if you squint a lot (and disregard the fact that Skyrim’s logo wings also converge back). But at that point literally everything that has a shape can resemble it.
