It seems incredibly far fetched. Who in their right minds would take 3 subway rides for 50% discount on a game if you insult someone.

Then again, someone absolutely would…

Well this is curious. People are agreeing with me and repeating 1/3rd of my sentences, and down voting. There must be some interesting psychology going on.

I hit -5 I think. Probably some people misinterpreted the statement. It can happen, though that it happened in 3 sentences surprised me.

There are at least 70 Million people in the US dumb enough to do this

I have strong opinions on that group, but do consider that there’s dumb people on both sides of the divide. It is also interesting that if you think your side is smart, how come the smart side can’t understand and steer the dumb ones the right way? There’s even smart people in that camp that are true believers and not just there for exploitation. I think it’s because all topics are cut down to something so small it loses all complexity. Like putting The Hobbit and LotR together into a single 3h movie. How can you make an opinion on… Read more »

Oh, I can understand why the dumb people chose that decision, doesn’t mean I’m not going to call them out on it. Only now, some are realizing that they made a mistake when the outcome of said mistake is starting to affect them. That’s really only how some people learn sadly and are unable to see what could happen in advance.

Many years ago, I worked in a charity shop. The manager was locking up one day when an irate customer came up demanding a refund on a widget he’d bought for a single pound. He’d spent two pound on the bus fare to come back and return the widget. These people exist!

That takes me back to when I was filling shelves at the supermarket. Customer wanted a discount on beef. She had gone to several of the supermarket chain and found them all empty. She was going by car, so she would have needed to buy a trunk full to offset the gas she spent extra.

I’ve worked in retail, there are people who would go this far to redeem an obviously fake promotion made up by a third party.

I mean the Troll had a whole cadre of whack jobs that are still out there and probably a bit pissed thier big plan didn’t go off. I t might be her, but there are other possibilities.

Feels like a play. Cause a whole load of trouble, to force Ethan to talk to her again, then do the whole “I only did this, because YOU hurt me so much, since I love you so much” for a guilt trip to get back together. Probably not the first time she’s pulled something like that either.

Sadly, even Nicole is the catalyst, it doesn’t take much for morons like this to capitalize on such situations. I’ve been working in customer service for various companies for over 20 years. Trust me, people: Guys like him really do exist. And yes, they ARE that stupid.

Well, based on the dialogue, he did not tell Ethan he’s a dick before claiming the discount, so I don’t get what he’s so mad about.

And potentially a lawsuit for damages, especially if that guy is the first of many angry customers who then tank the reviews online.

actually pretty easy. An add like that needs to be paid, and they typically don’t take cash…
so there has to be an address and billing information available.

You mean, because he called it a “post”? And where do you think such a FREE post would be made, so that it would be assumed legitimate?
Most if not all public forums have rules that prevent you from posting free ads – they want you to pay for them.
Oh, and an ad is also POSTED, so you CAN call it a “post”. And they are often placed BETWEEN user posts in forums such as reddit.

So, vandalism, harassment, and libel? She’s stacking up the crimes quickly, not that people like her care. They think they have a right to punish people for their perceived sleights. That’s why we have road rage and Karens/Keiths.

You shouldn’t believe a coupon from a random source is legitimate in the first place. If a store had to honor any coupon you brought in regardless of source, you could just make a coupon for free pizza and get all the pizza you want.

Still don’t think she has anything to do with The Troll or his ilk, but she is quickly becoming a troll. Just waiting for one of them to mention how they preferred the super version of this because at least they could fight back against that one.

A coupon can’t be published anonymously, it can be traced back to who paid for the ad.

This is something you hire a lawyer and sue for.

At this point I am less worried about these series of troubling events than I am about the seemingly hap-hazard covering of the damage to the store front.

But…

then again that might just be my OCD talking.

I just have to remember to ignore the little voices in my head.

This is what it’s like to finally separate from an abuser like Nicole. You just keep wondering was that them whenever things like this happen. Sometimes you find yourself just suddenly staring at your apartment door or over your shoulder, for no other reason than your brain just decided to poke you with your trauma. Nicole probably didn’t do any of this, but she left Ethan unable to shake the feeling that she’s going to do stuff like this. And sooner or later, she probably will show up at his job or apartment. And the emails won’t stop coming for… Read more »

I’m sorry, but what exactly makes you think Nicole isn’t involved in any of this? She’s pretty much the only one it can be. Even disregarding the obvious timing, there is nobody else with such a personal grudge against Ethan. I’m sure there’s some legitimate ‘seeing shadows’ potential when encountering misfortune after a (bad) break-up, but to then leap to immediately claiming this probably has nothing to do with her is ridiculous, almost Nicole levels of gaslighting. Even if there is some twist later where all this does somehow turn out to be unrelated, with the current known information Nicole… Read more »
